FUNERAL SERVICES : Private family services will be held.SURVIVORS: Gene will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Genea (Paul) Patton of Park Rapids; his five grandchildren: Austin age 11, Caleb age 9, Paul Jr. age 8, Briana age 6 and Madison age 5; and his brother, LeRoy Holford of Lake Havasu City, AZ . GENE EDWARD HOLFORD October 6, 1945 " October 18, 2009 Gene Edward Holford, age 64 of Park Rapids, MN formerly of Chickamauga, Georgia passed away at Innovis Health Center in Fargo, North Dakota after suffering a massive heart attack four days earlier. Gene was born on October 6, 1945 in Saginaw, MI to Floyd and Obeetha (Swartz) Holford. It was in Michigan that Gene attended an all boys military school and grew into manhood. On March 6, 1966, Gene was united in marriage to Gloria J. Smith. This union was blessed with two daughters: Micheale and Genea. Gene drove trucks over the road professionally for many years and was also employed in factories where he worked himself up into a supervisory position. In 1984, Gene moved with his family to Chickamauga, Georgia where he worked as a professional painter for a number of years. He later began a new career working as a bleacher for the Yates Bleachery Company until failing health forced him to retire early. Gene loved the out of doors; especially when he could be hunting or fishing with his family. Gene cherished all the time he could spend building memories with his family. His life was deeply saddened by the deaths of both his wife and his oldest daughter in 2007. He had devoted his life to his daughter, Genea and his five grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Gene will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Genea (Paul) Patton of Park Rapids; his five grandchildren: Austin age 11, Caleb age 9, Paul Jr. age 8, Briana age 6 and Madison age 5; and his brother, LeRoy Holford of Lake Havasu City, AZ . Gene was preceded in death by his wife, his daughter, Micheale, his sister, Mary and his sister-in-law, Geri Ann. Private family services are being planned.
