Iron, MN; her sister-in-law, Lorraine Qualley of Lake Bemidji, MN; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. FLORENCE ANNE JOHANNSEN August 19, 1926 " November 7, 2009 Florence Anne Johannsen, age 83, a long time Lake George, MN area resident, peacefully went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2009, while a patient at the North Region Hospital in Bemidji with her loved ones at her side. Florence was born on August 19, 1926 in Becida, MN to Archie and Rose (Peters) Stecker. It was in the Becida area that she attended public school and grew into her early teenage years. At the age of 15, Florence moved with her family to the Bemidji area. On May 5, 1951, she was united in marriage to Walter Johannsen at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. This union was blessed with one son, Marvail. The young couple engaged themselves in farming and logging until 1957, when Walter embarked on a new career working in the iron ore mines of Northeastern MN. Florence dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and son. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade sauerkraut and her ever popular raisin spice cake with caramel frosting, her chocolate cakes, and homemade bread. She also cooked up some delicious venison, fried fish and freshly fried chicken. Each spring she would look forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into fruitful abundance to preserve and share with her family and friends. She loved the out of doors and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, son and grandchildren. Florence was a long time faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. For many years she was actively involved with the Lake George Sr. Citizens Club and would notify all members of upcoming meetings. Florence also enjoyed filling her spare time with making special quilts for her family. She experienced the deep loss of her husband in 1992 after his courageous battle against cancer. Above all Florence"s life centered around her much loved family and her devotion to her church. She played a huge role in the lives of her son, Marv and daughter-in-law, Melinda. She was an exceptionally important figure in the lives of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her abiding faith in her Lord and Savior was an inspiration to all who knew her. Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Walter in 1992 and her three sisters: Dorothy, Ruth and Pearl. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with Rev. Don Kirchner officiating. The organist will be Sharon Hadrava who will also sing, "The Lord"s Prayer". The congregational hymns will be: "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace". The casket bearers will be her grandchildren: Jason and Londa Johannsen, Josh and Michele Johannsen, Julie Johannsen and Jeff Muller, John Johannsen and Jenna Johannsen. The honorary casketbearers will be her great grand children:Andrew, Darin, William, Wyatt, Gavin, Alexa, Lydia and Carson Johannsen and Tammy Muller. Interment will be made next to her beloved husband Walter in the Lake George Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George and for an hour prior to the services on Wednesday. Following the funeral, the church family will provide a luncheon for all.
