INTERMENT : Menahga City Cemetery.SURVIVORS : Walfrid is survived by four children: Daniel (Boni) Isola of St. Charles, MN; Anthony (Lupe) Isola of Menahga, MN; Margene (Roger) Olson of Perham, MN; Lori (Bruce) Petersen of Little Fork, MN; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Isola of Menahga, MN. He is also survived by grandchildren: Tami (Martin) Krause of St. Charles, MN; Joni (Erik) Hayes of Jacksonville, FL; Mike (Missi) Isola of Wadena, MN; Sarita (Saul) Riewer of New York Mills, MN; Brent (Jonisa) Isola of Menahga, MN; Kim (Chad) Flatau of Perham, MN; Sarah (Scott) Flatau of Perham, MN; Kari Honer of Perham, MN; Joel (Rhonda) Olson of Ottertail, MN; Eric (Katie) Petersen of Stillwater, OK; Brian Petersen of Bemidji, MN; Kayla Petersen of Grand Forks, ND; Daidrie Petersen of Duluth, MN; 19 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Walfrid is also survived by 2 sisters, Vi Salmela and Nina Hepokoski of Menahga, and three sister-in-laws, Rosella Mickelson of Frazee, MN, Fern Jacobson of Perham, MN, and Anita Johnson of Frazee, MN. Walfrid William Isola March 23, 1915 " November 15, 2009 Walfrid William Isola, 94, of Menahga, Minnesota died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at his home on Stocking Lake Road. Walfrid was born March 23, 1915, in Becker County, Wolf Lake, Minnesota, to William and Maria Juliana (Balm) Isola. Walfrid attended school at District 75 through the 8th grade. Walfrid was united in marriage to Margaret Johnson on February 24, 1943, at Evergreen Parish, Evergreen, Minnesota. To this union, five children were born: Daniel, Anthony, Larry, Margene, and Lori. Walfrid was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In April 1943, Walfrid was drafted into the U.S. Army and was a very proud World War II Veteran. In 1955, they moved to Butler, MN where they farmed and milked cows, and Walfrid worked for Hendrickx Implement. In 1985, they moved to Menahga, MN. They enjoyed wintering in Texas. Walfrid enjoyed playing horseshoes and shared his many trophies with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Walfrid greatly enjoyed taking casino trips with his wife, Margaret, his kids, his sister, and sister-in-laws. He was a dedicated Twins fan all his life. The Twins have lost one of their most loyal fans. Walfrid was a chartered and life-time member of the Wolf Lake VFW. He was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Menahga, MN. Walfrid is survived by four children: Daniel (Boni) Isola of St. Charles, MN; Anthony (Lupe) Isola of Menahga, MN; Margene (Roger) Olson of Perham, MN; Lori (Bruce) Petersen of Little Fork, MN; and one daughter-in-law, Lois Isola of Menahga, MN. Walfrid is also survived by 2 sisters, Vi Salmela and Nina Hepokoski of Menahga, and three sister-in-laws, Rosella Mickelson of Frazee, MN, Fern Jacobson of Perham, MN, and Anita Johnson of Frazee, MN. Walfrid was preceded in death by: his loving wife of 66 years, Margaret, his son Larry Isola, and grandsons, Matthew and Marc Isola. Funeral services will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Menahga, MN on Friday, November 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM with Reverend John Ramsbacher officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 5-8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home, Menahga, MN. Casket bearers will be grandsons: Mike Isola, Brent Isola, Joel Olson, Eric Petersen, Brian Petersen; grandsons-in-law: Saul Riewer and Martin Krause; and nephew: Richard Haro. Honorary casket bearers will be Walfrid"s grandchildren and their spouses and his great grandchildren. Military honors will be conducted by the Wolf Lake VFW Post #8165 and the MEnahga VFW Post #6206. Interment will be made in the Menahga City Cemetery. Arrangements provided by the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home serving Menahga and Sebeka, MN.
