BETTY McCAFFREE July 22, 1932 ~ November 24, 2009Betty McCaffree, age 77, of Park Rapids, died Thursday, November 24, 2009 at her home. Betty was born July 22, 1932 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Henry Beach and Blanch (Smith) Beach. Betty attended school in Tulsa and Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and attended college for one year after moving to Wichita, Kansas. It was in Wichita where Betty met and married her husband of 41 years, Don McCaffree, who preceded Betty in death in 1994. Together Betty and Don raised two children: son Brad (Carolyn) McCaffree of Haysville, Kansas; and daughter Kary (Tracy) Elliott, of Nampa, Idaho. In addition, Betty cherished her two grandchildren, Caleb and Aurora McCaffree of Haysville, Kansas. Betty had many talents and accomplishments in life. She was a resort owner, bookkeeper and manager. She loved to fish, sew, read, bake, and garden. She loved all animals, especially her boys, George Patrick and Buffy Boy. Betty lived life to its fullest with purpose and vigor. Her family has always known her generosity but only recently discovered her true generosity. Last but not least, Betty was a wife, mother and grandmother, but most of all, she was our best friend. She was loved by many, including Brother Kevin Scott, who will be officiating at her Memorial Service at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids. Friends are invited to join the family at the American Legion in Park Rapids following the service to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman.
