Loren Ferch officiating.VISITATION :INTERMENT :SURVIVORS :She will be lovingly remembered by her soulmate and husband for these past 53 years, John of Nevis; her daughter, Susan (Dennis) Philipps of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandsons: Edward and Nicholas Erickson; two sisters: Beverly (Mickey Rugroden) Blackburn and Lois (Lefty Anderson) Nordman all of Park Rapids; her sister-in-law, Janet (Jerry) Munson of Park Rapids; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Plumley and Roger (Deborah) Plumley all of Nevis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. DONNA RAE PLUMLEY May 17, 1938 " April 20, 2010 Donna Rae Plumley, age 71 of Nevis, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Innovis Health Center in Fargo, ND with her loved ones at her side. Donna, the daughter of Harold and Alice (Brekke) Rutherford, was born on May 17, 1938 in Park Rapids, MN. It was in Park Rapids that she attended public school, graduating from the Park Rapids High School with the Class of 1956. Donna was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, John F. Plumley on April 27, 1957 at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with one daughter, Susan Rae. Donna devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her family. They made their home in the Twin Cities where in addition to homemaking; Donna also worked as an accountant for the National Car Rental Company for a number of years. In 1978, she began working for Stein Industries where she worked in commercial credit and collections in a career that spanned over 8 years. In 1986, they moved to Illinois where they resided until returning to Minnesota and building their dream retirement home on the banks of the Crow Wing River south of Nevis, MN in 1996. Donna loved the out of doors. Each spring she and John looked forward to raising many beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She and John loved to feed the birds, deer and waterfowl that graced their river property. She also enjoyed hunting and looked forward to the times she could spend with John in the woods or in a duck blind. She was a self-taught wine making connoisseur who enjoyed crafting all types of wines. Her wine making skills became so well respected that she was the only woman invited to join an all men"s wine making club in Illinois. Donna was also a gifted seamstress who enjoyed sewing all types of clothes for her daughter and her daughter"s dolls. Above all, Donna devoted her entire life to her husband, her daughter and her grandsons who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her soulmate and husband for these past 53 years, John of Nevis; her daughter, Susan (Dennis) Philipps of Indianapolis, Indiana; two grandsons: Edward and Nicholas Erickson; two sisters: Beverly (Mickey Rugroden) Blackburn and Lois (Lefty Anderson) Nordman all of Park Rapids; her sister-in-law, Janet (Jerry) Munson of Park Rapids; two brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Plumley and Roger (Deborah) Plumley all of Nevis; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Donna was preceded in death by her parents. Services will held 2 PM Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Rev. Loren Ferch officiating. Special music selections were: "In The Garden", "The Lord"s Prayer" and "Amazing Grace". A sharing of tributes and memories will be facilitated by her nephew, Barry Munson.
