WOODROW CHRISTIAN SALTZMAN II August 3, 1948 ~ April 24, 2010 Woodrow Christian Saltzman II, age 61 of Hewitt, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at his home with his loved ones at his side. Woody was born on August 3, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois to Woodrow and Nettie Saltzman. He attended public school and attended high school in Inglewood, California. As a young man, Woody lived an adventurous life. He traveled the western US and worked in the oil fields of California, Montana and Texas for a number of years. He also worked in road construction, operating heavy equipment throughout the blue skies of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. On April 22, 1978, Woody married his soul mate and best friend, Sandy Jo Stevens in Pontiac, Illinois. This union was blessed with 5 children: Pepper, Starla, Tonya, Travis and Woody III. Later, Woody worked as a carpenter in building projects throughout the country. In 1997, Woody moved his family to the Hewitt, Minnesota area where he remodeled an old country school house into a warm and comfortable home for his family. His heart was irreparably broken by the death of his precious wife, Sandy in July of 2009. Woody loved the out of doors; especially, when he could be out on a lake angling for the elusive walleye with his family. He loved to tinker with automobiles and enjoyed racing stock cars in his younger days. Above all, Woody devoted his life to his children and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his 5 children: Pepper Woodworth of Moorhead, MN; Starla (Jamie) Mousseau of Hewitt, MN; Tonya Saltzman of Wadena, MN; Travis Saltzman of Hewitt, MN and Woody Saltzman III of Wadena, MN; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers: Ed Saltzman and Bob (Dixie) Saltzman, both of Chatsworth, IL as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and 1 brother, Bill. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene in Hewitt, MN with Pastor Johannes Marsland officiating. Active casket bearers will be his sons and brothers: Travis Saltzman, Woody Saltzman, Bob Saltzman, Ed Saltzman, Mike Parker and Jamie Mousseau. Honorary bearers will be his daughters: Pepper Woodworth, Starla Mousseau and Tonya Saltzman. Musical tributes will be: "Almost Home", "When I Get Where I"m Going" and "Dig Two Graves".
