FUNERAL SERVICES : will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Reverend Fred Brown officiating.VISITATION : will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.INTERMENT : Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN. SURVIVORS : Wally is survived by his sister: Mary Ellen (Arthur) Burns of Park Rapids, MN; a brother: Melvin (Betty) Johnson of Bend, OR; two aunts: Alfrieda (Clyde) Johnson of Park Rapids, MN and Nora (Arthur) Linden of Sebeka, MN along with many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. WALLACE "WALLY" TIMOTHY JOHNSON April 30, 1942 ~ May 6, 2010 Wallace "Wally" Timothy Johnson, age 68, entered into Heaven"s gates on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. Wally was born in Park Rapids, MN to Wallace "Baldy" and Ruth (Linden) Johnson on April 30, 1942. He lived in Park Rapids from birth until 1952 when he moved with his parents to Yachats, OR where they owned and operated a large sawmill. Wally returned to Park Rapids with his parents in 1956 and lived here until his death. Wally was afflicted with cerebral palsy from birth. In 1950 he underwent major surgery on his right arm and leg at the Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. His physical abilities were greatly enhanced following a very successful operation. Wally was a member of the Fraternity of Free Masons. He held the office of Tiler in the local Masonic Lodge of Park Rapids. He was a very engaging and social person who enjoyed conversation and interaction with his many friends and relatives. Wally was an avid card and pool player. He especially enjoyed his years on the championship pool team #2 that was sponsored by the Royal Bar. Wally also enjoyed fishing on the lakes around Park Rapids and went on many fishing trips to Canada. His travels included many areas of the United States and Canada. The highlight of his travels was a trip to Europe to visit his sister in Germany. While there, he also traveled to France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland. The yearly trips to the Minnesota State Fair with Wally"s long time friend, Ronald Waterman was a treasured event that he enjoyed and anticipated. Wally is survived by his sister: Mary Ellen (Arthur) Burns of Park Rapids, MN; a brother: Melvin (Betty) Johnson of Bend, OR; two aunts: Alfrieda (Clyde) Johnson of Park Rapids, MN and Nora (Arthur) Linden of Sebeka, MN along with many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. Wally was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, May 13, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with Reverend Fred Brown officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be made at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN.
