FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids, MN.VISITATION : One hour prior to services at the church.INTERMENT : Will be in the Robbins family plot next to his precious wife, Helene in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids, MN.SURVIVORS : His eight surviving children: Martin (Bonnie) Robbins of Spokane, WA, Myron (Marie) Robbins of Park Rapids, Michael Robbins of Spokane,WA, Sheryl Kloepfel of Park Rapids, Sandra Heard, Sheila Newton, and Stacey (Steven) Key all of Spokane, WA and Mark Robbins of Park Rapids; 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. ALBERTNATHANIEL ROBBINSJuly 27, 1919 " August 3, 2010 Albert Nathaniel Robbins, age 91, a life long Park Rapids, MN resident, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at St. Josephs Hospital in Park Rapids. Albert was born on July 27, 1919 in Park Rapids to Noah and Delcie (Reeves) Robbins. It was in the Park Rapids area that he attended public school and grew into manhood. In 1940, he was united in marriage to Helene Vangen. Their marriage was blessed with ten children. Shortly after their marriage, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor and Albert entered the United States Army where he proudly served his country as a member of Battery "G" of the 217th Calvary until his honorable discharge in January of 1946. Albert then returned home to his family in Park Rapids and found employment working in the Iron Ore Mines of Northern MN near Hibbing. He later ventured to Greenland where he worked construction for a time. When he returned to Park Rapids he continued working in the construction field and one of his many local construction projects was helping build Deer Town on the north side of Park Rapids. He later worked for Clyde Johnson and for his brother, Roy Robbins clearing brush and tree limbs from the power line right of ways throughout the region. In his retirement, Albert continued to keep busy by working on the potato Harvest for many years. Albert loved the out of doors and especially looked forward to hunting and fishing with his family and friends. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading Louie LaMour Western Novels, watching Walker Texas Ranger on TV with his grandkids, enjoying coffee with friends and going for rides in the evening to check on the local deer population. He will be lovingly remembered by his eight surviving children: Martin (Bonnie) Robbins of Spokane, WA, Myron (Marie) Robbins of Park Rapids, Michael Robbins of Spokane,WA, Sheryl Kloepfel of Park Rapids, Sandra Heard, Sheila Newton, and Stacey (Steven) Key all of Spokane, WA and Mark Robbins of Park Rapids; 26 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Albert was preceded in death by his wife, Helene in 1988, his daughter, Susan and son, Maynard; and many brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church in Park Rapids with Pastor Ron Winters officiating. The casketbearers will be his grandchildren: Tony Robbins, Mitchell Robbins, Shane Kloepfel, Brandon Kloepfel, Steve Key Jr., Desiree Robbins, Amanda Robbins and Holly Robbins. Interment will be in the Robbins family plot next to his precious wife, Helene in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids. Visitation will be held beginning one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Following the funeral a luncheon will be hosted by the Assembly of God Church. Military honors will be provided by the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212 in Park Rapids.
