WILMA JOYCE ROBERTSONJanuary 5, 1942 " August 25, 2010 Wilma Joyce Robertson, age 68, a long time Park Rapids, MN area resident, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St. Joseph"s Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Wilma was born on January 5, 1942 on the home farm in Toad Lake Township of Becker County, MN to Arnold and Mabel (Nelson) Zick. As a girl, she attended the District # 83 country school near her home through the eighth grade. She went on to attend the Frazee High School where she graduated with the Class of 1960. After receiving her high school diploma, Wilma attended the Wadena Vocational-Technical College and studied cosmetology. Upon receiving her license, Wilma embarked on a life long career as a beautician. She began working in Cross Lake and then ventured to the Twin Cities for a time before moving to Georgetown, MN. In the early 1960"s she began working at Hazel"s Beauty Shop (Total Image) in Park Rapids. She finished up her professional career working at Hair and Body Works in Park Rapids until her retirement in 2003. On October 5, 1974, Wilma was united in marriage to Chuck Robertson at St. Peter"s Catholic Church in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with two children: Audra and Chad. Wilma dedicated herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her delicious home made lasagna, beef stroganoff, cinnamon rolls and Christmas candies. In her spare time, Wilma enjoyed knitting, crocheting and doing many other types of handcrafts. She enjoyed the out of doors and looked forward each spring to planting a large vegetable garden which she would nurture into fruitful abundance to share with family and friends. Wilma also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Each summer she would pick blueberries and strawberries which she would can and freeze. She was an active member of St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church where she served as the treasurer of The National Catholic Society of Foresters for many years. Wilma was also active with the Hubbard County Extension Homemakers. She also had assisted the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home with hairdressing numerous deceased clients for many years. Above all, Wilma devoted her life to her husband, children and grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. Wilma will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Chuck of Park Rapids; her two children: Audra (Scott) Olson of Grand Rapids, MN and Chad (Heidi) Robertson of Park Rapids, MN; her five grandchildren: Kassidy Olson, Ryan Olson of Grand Rapids, MN; Caden Robertson, Drew Kaiser and Brooke Christiansen all of Park Rapids, MN; two sisters: Betty Adams of Blaine, MN, Darlene (Ced) Steinkraus of Staples, MN; four brothers: Duane Zick of Perham, MN, George (Annette) Zick of Osage, MN, James (Clar) Zick of Detroit Lakes, MN and David (Ann) Zick of Osage, MN; mother-in-law, Eleanor Robertson of Park Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Kaylene Weiser of Denver, CO; brother-in-law, John Watkins of Colorado as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her precious grand daughter, Cierra Rae Olson; father-in-law, Chester Robertson; 2 brothers-in-law: Bill Weiser and James Adams and sister-in-law, Dorothy Zick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN with Father Thomas Friedl officiating. The organist will be Joy Horejsi. The Alleluia Choir will lead the mass music. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM " 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN, with the Rosary service at 7:00 PM. Casketbearers will be: Gene Zick, Robert Zick, Michael Zick, Anita Adams, Sheldon Zick, Wayne Steinkraus and Brian Watkins. The honorary casketbearers will be The National Catholic Society of Foresters. Interment will be made in the St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN. A luncheon will be hosted by St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church after the service.
