FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at St. Hubert Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN.VISITATION : One hour prior to services at the church.INTERMENT : St. Hubert Catholic Cemetery in Bluegrass, MN.SURVIVORS : Her son, Virgil (Cathy) Felt; daughter, Kathy (Lawrence) Prashek; two sisters: Amelia Sorman and Francis Warling; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great step granddaughter; three great, great step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. LEAH F. FELTOCTOBER 19, 1915 ~ SEPTEMBER 22, 2010 Leah F. Felt, age 94, of Fargo, ND peacefully passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at the Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Leah was born on October 19, 1915 to Frank and Emilie Hemmerling in Langdon, ND. She grew up in the St. John"s Orphanage and Free School in Fargo, ND. She graduated from Central High School (Shanley) in Fargo, ND in 1934 and then attended nursing school at St. Andrew"s Hospital in Fargo, ND and graduated with a Registered Nursing degree. She worked as an Emergency Room nurse in the Park Rapids Hospital and was a nursing supervisor at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN for many years. Leah was united in marriage to Harold Felt on December 26, 1940; this union was blessed with four children. The couple began their life together on a crop and poultry farm near Westhope, ND, where they farmed until moving to a dairy farm near Sebeka, MN in 1963. She loved working with the newborn animals on the farm, she would never hesitate to jump in and help with the birth of any farm animals. They lived on their farm until the year they retired and moved into the city of Sebeka, MN. Leah would spend many hours tending to her huge gardens as they were her pride and joy. Leah also loved to bake, she will be long remembered for her homemade buns and caramel rolls. She taught her children and grandchildren the art of making lefse. She was an avid quilter; she made sure all of her family had a quilt in their house that she had made. In Harold"s last years, quilting was her "saving activity." She would have one, if not many, quilts in progress " she made sure that her children and grandchildren knew how to tie a quilt. Leah also enjoyed watching her children play basketball, which was her favorite sport. She had to learn the game of football, many Friday nights were filled with explanations of what went on in that evening"s game. She was a follower of her grandchildren"s performances in the sports arena as well. Leah was a devout Christian; she would attend mass with fierce devotion and volunteered teaching Sunday school. She was a very active member in every parish she belonged to. In her later years, Leah donated her time to making many different types of crafts for her senior citizens organizations and nursing home. She was known as the "card lady", as she had so many boxes of used cards to recycle. She took great pride in being nominated for "Outstanding Senior Citizen of Wadena County" in 1991. She also showed great leadership by creating the "Widows Club" for the Sebeka Senior Citizen Center. Leah will be lovingly remembered by her son, Virgil (Cathy) Felt; daughter, Kathy (Lawrence) Prashek; two sisters: Amelia Sorman and Francis Warling; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great step granddaughter; three great, great step grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold in 1985; son, Jerome Felt; daughter, Carol Cote; grandson, Dean Cote; great grandson, Brandon Ellingson; two sisters: Regina Pardino and Phyllis Wetzel; three brothers: Tony Hemmerling, Frankie Hemmerling and Levi Hemmerling; Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the St. Hubert Catholic Church in Bluegrass, MN with Father Scott Wittkop officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren: Jeff Felt, Justin Felt, Daniel Prashek, Nick Prashek, Richard Cote and Doran Cote. Honorary Casketbearers will be her grandchildren: Debbie Cote, Jennifer Felt, Terry Prashek, Jerry Dan Felt, Michael Felt and Samantha Felt. Interment will be made in the St. Hubert Catholic Cemetery in Bluegrass, MN.
