FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Frazee Care Center with Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. Memorial services will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN.VISITATION : One hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Frazee Care Center.INTERMENT : Balmi Cemetery, Wolf Lake, MN.SURVIVORS : Her two daughters: Joyce Eisen (Larry Salmela) of Nevis, MN and Veronica "Pappu" (Otto) Marjamaa of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Terry of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. MAYME LYDIA MATTSONSeptember 8, 1921 ~ September 30, 2010 Mayme Lydia Mattson, age 89 of the Frazee-Snellman, MN areas passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010 at the Frazee Care Center. Mayme was born on September 8, 1921 to Reverend Jacob and Ida Erkkila near Callaway in Becker County, MN. As an infant, Mayme moved with her family to the Toad Lake Township and attended the Toad Lake Country School. At 16 years of age, she moved to Chicago, IL and worked as a nanny for two years before moving back to Minnesota. She was very close to her father and assisted him in ministry and also loved to go fishing with him. Mayme was united in marriage to Walter Everett Mattson on October 22, 1939 in Wolf Lake, MN with Mayme"s father officiating; this union was blessed with three children: Joyce, Veronica and Terry. The family farmed in the Snellman area until 1949 when they moved to Chicago, IL. In the mid 1960s, Mayme moved to Wolf Lake, MN where she worked as a fire watcher at the Wolf Lake Fire Tower and planted trees for Ed Patson throughout the area. After several years, Mayme returned to Chicago, IL where she was employed with Admiral Television, Central Scientific and Beltone Hearing Aids factories until her retirement in 1985 when she returned to the Wolf Lake area. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden and raising colorful flowers. She crocheted many afghans for her family and friends. She lived for a short period of time in Park Rapids, Menahga and also with both of her daughters until her failing health caused her to become a resident of the Frazee Care Center in 1997. Mayme will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters: Joyce Eisen (Larry Salmela) of Nevis, MN and Veronica "Pappu" (Otto) Marjamaa of Detroit Lakes, MN; son, Terry of Seattle, WA; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren, nineteen great great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers: Art, Oscar, Walter and Paul; four sisters: Hannah, Ann, Martha and Marie and two grandsons: Kenneth Jr. and Jerry John in infancy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN with Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. Deborah Aho will be the organist. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Frazee Care Center. Interment will be at the Balmi Cemetery near Wolf Lake, MN. Honorary casketbearers will be all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN.
