MAE M. SAMPSONNovember 10, 1913 ~ October 14, 2010 Mae M. Sampson, age 96 of Wadena, MN formerly of Hibbing and Park Rapids, MN passed away on Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Fair Oaks Lodge in Wadena, MN. Mae was born on November 10, 1913 to Frederick and Anna (Laatinen) Nelson in Redeye Township, Wadena Co., MN. As a girl Mae attended country school near her home. As she reached adulthood she was united in marriage to Arvid E. Sampson. Their union was blessed with two sons Clarence and Edward. The couple made their home in Hibbing, MN where Mae endeavored to provide a warm and loving home for her growing family. She also worked as a miner in the mines. After retirement, Mae and Arvid moved to Kabekona Lake near Laporte, MN. Mae enjoyed the out of doors; she was an avid hunter and fisherwoman. Mae had a hobby of collecting agates and other interesting rocks and also had an affinity for frogs. She endured a great loss with the death of her husband, Arvid in 1986. Mae remained in the Kabekona and Park Rapids areas before moving to Wadena in 2000. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Edward Sampson of Wadena, MN; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; 3 sisters; 1 brother; and daughter-in-law, Lesley Sampson. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arvid; one son, Clarence Sampson; one grandchild, Mike Sampson; one great grandchild, Cheri Sampson; numerous brothers and sisters; and daughter-in-law, Evelyn Sampson.
