ANNE D. GLATZMAIERJuly 26, 1921 ~ October 30, 2010 Anne D. Glatzmaier, age 89, of Park Rapids, MN peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at the St. Joseph"s Area Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Anne was born on July 26, 1921 to Joseph and Margaret (Frye) Glatzmaier on their farm in Savannah Township of Becker County just north of Two Inlets, MN. It was in this same area that she attended country school through the 8th grade and then went on to the Park Rapids High School from where she graduated in the late 1930s. Anne attended Normal Teachers Training and then went on to attend Bemidji State College from where she graduated in 1941 with her bachelor"s degree in education. Anne dedicated herself to a life long career that spanned 40 years as a public elementary school teacher. Over the years, she taught in the Ponsford area, Park Rapids and for 35 years in Gilbert, MN on the iron range. She loved to help her students develop a love for reading and learning. Although she had no children of her own, she had an extended family of many students, nieces and nephews who she loved and showed genuine interest and concern for throughout their lives. Anne retired from teaching in the early 1980s and returned to the home farm near Two Inlets. For the past 5 years, Anne has made her home with her great niece, Wilma Girtz, just north of Park Rapids, where she was lovingly cared for during her time of failing health and special need.. Anne was a life long member of St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Two Inlets, MN. She was a voracious reader. Anne enjoyed drawing and doing embroidery work. She had a deep love for animals and enjoyed watching horses, "her cats" and the many wild animals and birds that graced the view of her picture window. In her later years, Anne so enjoyed good cooking and visits from friends and family. She will be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, many friends and former students. Anne was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers: John, Joseph, Tony and George; and her 5 sisters: Dora, Rose, Clara, Muggie and Barbara. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the St. Mary"s Catholic Church in Two Inlets, MN with Father Tom Friedl officiating. Her great nephew, Jason Sanger will both sing and play the piano. Anne"s casket bearers will be: Timothy Yliniemi, Sam Yliniemi, Ed Decker, Ray Kramar, Pat Schradars and James Thelen Jr.. Honorary casketbearers will be: George Thelen, James Thelen, Charles Smith, Bart Glatzmaier and John Gobernatz. Interment will be at the St. Mary"s Catholic Cemetery in Two Inlets, MN. Following the service, there will be a luncheon provided by the St. Mary"s Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 PM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at St. Marys Catholic Church.
