MILDRED "MILLIE" CONDIFF October 10, 1921 ~ November 24, 2010 Mildred "Millie" Condiff, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at St. Joseph"s hospital in Park Rapids. Mildred was born on October 10, 1921, the 4th of 7 children, born to Nick and Marie Breitbach. Her brothers and sisters are John, Irvin, Roy, Ken, Eugene, and Jeanette (Kurtti). She grew up and attended Shady Knoll School. Mildred followed in her mother"s footsteps and became an excellent seamstress and cook. She taught herself how to play the piano and she and her brothers formed a fairly well-known band in the area, "The Rhythm Rascals". On October 23, 1942 Mildred was united in marriage to Merrill Condiff. They moved to Tacoma Washington for 3 years and both worked in the shipyards as welders. In 1945, they returned to Park Rapids, where Merrill worked for the MP&L and Mildred was home with the children. They moved to Little Falls from 1956-60, and then back to PR, where they spent the rest of their lives. Mildred and Merrill loved to travel and took many car trips with the kids to Tacoma, the Black Hills, and even drove the Al-Can Highway to Alaska. Even after she was widowed, Mildred continued to travel with family and friends to Disney World, Hawaii, Puerto Vallarta, Branson, Arizona, Colorado and the East coast. Besides working in the shipyards, Mildred also became a Home Health Aide, once the kids were grown. She truly enjoyed that position and was a blessing to those she cared for. She was also a founding member of the Hubbard County Homemaker"s club and enjoyed organizing activities for the group. A very large part of Mildred and Merrill"s lives revolved around their faith. In 1945, they began holding Bible studies in their home that eventually grew in numbers and became the Church of Christ congregation. They helped host many dinners for out-of-town visitors and organized many campaigns and workshops for that congregation. Mildred and Merrill celebrated their 45th anniversary with a wonderful party and the following year Merrill passed away. Mildred moved from her home in Park Rapids to Summerfield Place in 2002 and found many good friends who enjoyed cards and dominos. In 2009, she moved to Care-Age Country Home, following a stroke and was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff and visited by friends and family. Mildred is survived by her sons, Jerry (Marge) of Battle Lake and Tom (Sharon) of Park Rapids; daughters, Sue (Carl) Nippert of Eaganand Nancy Condiff of Loveland, CO; her 6 grandchildren: Greg, Rich, Jason, Jake, Mariann, and Mark; and 6 great-grandchildren: Zach, Dessi, Frankie, Quinn, Gabe, Avaya; her brothers, Ken (Jo) , Eugene (Joanne), sister Jeanette(Jerry) Kurtti and sister-in-law Violet.
