Sheila was born on November 30, 1935 in Fairmont, Nebraska to Loren and Henrietta (Moravec) Green. As a child she moved with her family to Aurora, NE where Sheila attended District 63 Country School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Marquette Nebraska High School with the Class of 1953. After graduation, she took a job in a local grocery store where she met Marvin Humiston. Sheila and Marvin were united in marriage on November 27, 1954. This union was blessed with five children: Curtis, Roxanne, Cindy, Jerri Lynn, and Todd. The young couple made their home in Grand Island, NE. Sheila took great pride in providing a warm and loving home for her growing family. She was an excellent cook and baker who had milk and warm cookies waiting for her children each day as they returned home from school. The memory of her homemade ice cream for birthdays and special occasions will be forever cherished. Sheila enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables. She preserved much of what she raised to share with family and friends. In addition to caring for her family, she ran a small upholstering business for several years. In 1975, Sheila and Marvin realized their dream of being farmers and moved their family to a farm near Chamberlain, MN. They raised beef cattle, hogs, horses, chickens and also the crops needed to feed the livestock. Sheila had a great love for horses, cats, playing cards with her family, nature and long walks in the woods on the farm. She was an avid Nebraska Cornhusker fan. Sheila was employed by the Badoura Nursery for many years. She was a long time member of the White Oak Bible Chapel where she served as a Sunday school teacher. Above all, Sheila devoted herself to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grand children who she loved with all her heart.
