SURVIVORS : His wife for the past 21 years, Diane; his daughter, Sherri (Mark) Benton of Reston, VA; 2 step-daughters: Tina (Dean) Hunter of Menahga, MN and Heidi (Steve) Uscensky of Rhinelander, WI; 9 beloved grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Janet (Joe) Latham of Imboden, AR; sister-in-law, Dorothy King of Paragould, AR. BILLY E. KINGFebruary 11, 1938 ~ December 8, 2010 Billy Eugene King, age 72, of Menahga, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday December 8, 2010 at his home north of Menahga. Bill was born on February 11, 1938 in Bono, Arkansas to Edward and Edith (Chapman) King. He attended public school in Hoxie, AR, graduating from the Hoxie Public High School with the Class of 1955. As a young man, Bill joined the United States Army National Guard and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he faithfully served his country in the Pacific until his honorable discharge. Bill then returned to Arkansas where he settled in Jonesboro and gained employment as a City Policeman for a number of years. He tested to become an Arkansas State Policeman where he served a 25 year highly distinguished career. Bill was awarded the medal of valor for apprehending a violent criminal in the act of armed robbery and attempted murder. He was wounded in the process. He was named the Arkansas State Trooper of the Year in 1974. Bill retired in 1988 and moved to Hamilton, Montana where he could enjoy the mountain country and the incredible hunting. On December 16, 1989, Bill was united in marriage to Diane K. Anderson in Hamilton. They enjoyed their lives together in Montana until 1993 when they moved to Menahga, Minnesota. Bill had a keen interest and skill in the shooting sports. He shot trap competition throughout Arkansas, Montana and Idaho and amassed many awards for his outstanding talent. He enjoyed watching professional baseball and football and was also an avid Nascar fan. He always kept himself abreast of world events and up to the minute on the current political news. Bill will be remembered for his dry sense of humor and his thoughtful, quiet manner. Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife for the past 21 years, Diane; his daughter, Sherri (Mark) Benton of Reston, VA; 2 step-daughters: Tina (Dean) Hunter of Menahga, MN and Heidi (Steve) Uscensky of Rhinelander, WI; 9 beloved grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Janet (Joe) Latham of Imboden, AR; sister-in-law, Dorothy King of Paragould, AR; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tony.
