VIVIAN A. BERGMarch 4, 1931 ~ January 6, 2011 Vivian A. Berg, age 79 of Park Rapids, MN was promoted into Glory on Thursday, January 6, 2011, with her loving husband, Cornell at her side, while a patient at the Essentia Health Center in Fargo, ND. Vivian was born on March 4, 1931 in St. Paul, MN to Henric and Alvera (Nelson) Larson. It was in St. Paul that Vivian attended public schools, graduating from Johnson High School with the Class of 1948. As a young woman, Vivian gained employment with the First Trust Company in St. Paul, MN as an office worker. On February 10, 1951 Vivian was united in marriage to Cornell C. Berg in St. Paul. This union was made complete with the birth of a son, Kevin on April 17, 1954. Vivian devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and son in St. Paul. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious home cooking. She was an active in her community and had served as a scout mother for a number of years. In 1960, Cornell and Vivian built a new home in Maplewood, MN where they resided until moving to a home on Boulder Lake near Park Rapids, MN in 1987 when Cornell retired from the Champion Paper Company. In 2002, they sold their lake home and moved into Park Rapids where they have resided ever since. Vivian was an avid card player and loved to play 500 with her family and friends. The Berg family loved to travel and planned many memorable vacations. Vivian loved the out of doors and especially enjoyed watching the wild life that graced their lake home property. Sadly, Vivian and Cornell endured the heart wrenching grief of their sons tragic death in 1992. Above all, Vivian devoted her life to her husband, Cornell who she loved with all her heart. Vivian will be loving remembered by her husband for nearly the past 60 years, Cornell of Park Rapids, MN and several cousins in Sweden. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Kevin. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 29, 2011 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Interment will be made in the Berg family plot at the Forest Lawn Memorial Garden Cemetery in Maplewood on Saturday, April 30th, 2011 at 11 A.M.
