CATHERINE MADELINE "Katie" CROATTAugust 29, 1917 " March 1, 2011 Catherine Madeline "Katie" Croatt, age 93 of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Moorhead, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on Tuesday, March lst, 2011, with her three daughters at her side. She died at St. Marys Innovis Health-Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes where she was under the loving care of the Oak Crossing staff and Hospice of the Red River Valley. Katie was born on August 29, 1917 in Moorhead, MN to Peter and Cecelia (McCoy) Dwyer. She attended Sacred Heart Academy in Fargo and she graduated in 1935. Katie went on to attend business college in Mpls. On January 16, 1940, she was united in marriage to Clarence P. "Bud" Croatt. This union was blessed with three daughters: Beverley, Maureen and Mary. The young family resided in Moorhead where Katie devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade baked beans, breads and brownies. In addition to caring for her family, Katie was employed by the Fargo Forum where she worked in the circulation department for 23 years. This career provided Katie with many "paperboy" stories that she delighted in telling for the rest of her life. Katie was a life-long member of the St. Josephs Parish in Moorhead. During their retirement years, she and Bud enjoyed spending many of their winters in Harligen, TX and summers at their long-time home on West McDonald Lake near Vergas, MN. In 1993, she and Bud moved to Park Rapids to be closer to family. For the past six years, Katie has made her home at St. Mary"s Innovis Health-Oak Crossing Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Katie will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters: Beverley (Daniel) Leclerc of North Oaks, MN, Maureen (Gary) Morinville of Valley Springs, SD and Mary (Bruce) Krabbenhoft of Park Rapids; her six grandchildren and 11 precious great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud who died in 2002 and two brothers: Jerome and John. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the St. Mary"s Oak Crossing Chapel in Detroit Lakes, MN with Monsignor Timothy McGee officiating. The organist will be Mary Kessler. The congregational hymns will be: "Precious Lord Take My Hand", "Make Me a Channel of Your Peace", "I Am the Bread of Life" and "Amazing Grace". Brinn Krabbenhoft will be singing "On Eagles Wings" and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers will be: Dan Leclerc, Bruce Krabbenhoft, Jason Krabbenhoft and Todd Morinville. Honorary casketbearers will be: Michelle Rothman, Jennifer Gabrio, Brenda Lammers and Sadie Krabbenhoft. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services at the St. Mary"s Oak Crossing Chapel. Interment will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 4, 2011 at the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Fargo, ND.
