AGNES ROSE "Duty" BECKERDecember 12, 1925 " March 22, 2011 Agnes Rose "Duty" Becker, age 85 of Mahnomen, MN, peacefully passed into eternity on Tuesday, March 22, 2011while convalescing at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN. Agnes was born on December 12, 1925 in Beaulieu, MN to Henry and Amelia (Mihm) Becker. She attended the Becker Country School near her parent"s farm and later attended the Ahmann Country School before going on to attend the Mahnomen Public High School from where she graduated with the Class of 1946. As a young woman, Agnes helped on the family dairy and livestock farm near Beaulieu. In 1960, she ventured to Minneapolis where she gained employment working as a nursing assistant and physical therapy assistant in a career that spanned 37 years until her retirement from the St. Paul Children"s Hospital in 1997. Agnes continued to make her home in Minneapolis until returning to the family near Beaulieu in 2004. Agnes loved the out doors and looked forward to planting a large garden each year, which she nurtured into fruitful abundance to share with her family and friends. She also looked forward to raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her varieties of different delicious cakes. Agnes had a deep and profound appreciation for music. She was a life long member of St. Josephs Catholic Church in Beaulieu. Agnes will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Anna Merchat of Cedar Lake, Indiana; her two sisters-in-law: Charlotte Becker of Saginaw, MN and Lucille Becker of Pengilly, MN; her special niece, Kitty Boberg of Mahnomen who she raised; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by nine brothers; one sister and two nephews. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 26th, 2011 at St. Josephs Catholic Church of Beaulieu celebrated by Father Xavier Ilango. Casket bearers will be: Keith Blunt, Albert Luecken, James Luecken, Joe Geray, Matt Geray and Donald Elfering. Interment will be made in St. Josephs Catholic Cemetery of Beaulieu. Visitation will be held beginning one hour prior to the services on Saturday at the church.
