FUNERAL SERVICES : 2:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Lee Kantonen officiating.VISITATION : One hour prior to the services at the church.INTERMENT : Riverside Memorial Garden, Park Rapids, MNSURVIVORS : His wife, Dorothy Wrabek of Park Rapids; his daughters: Karen (Richard) Kok of Park Rapids; Jeanne (Dr. Thomas) Eid of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Lynn (Steve Liston) Wrabek of Minneapolis, Lisa Wrabek of International Falls, MN; three step-children: Stanley and Eugenie Maynard of Kansas City, MO, Linda (Dr. Thomas) Callender of Bellingham, WA; nine beloved grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Viola Johnson of McGregor, MN and Vivian Nordgren of Minneapolis. WALTER WILLIAM WRABEKNovember 22, 1913 " March 25, 2011 Walter William Wrabek, age 97 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Menahga, peacefully passed from this life in the early morning hours of Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids. Walter was born on November 22, 1913 to Thomas and Anna (Prechal) Wrabek at New Prague, MN. He graduated from the Mechanical Arts High School in St. Paul, MN with the Class of 1930. From early on, Walter was curious about how things worked. He made crystal sets and thus began his life-long interest in radios. Walter started the Radio Sales and Service Shop which he owned at 24 4th St. in NE Minneapolis for 38 years. He married Marion MacKay in 1936. This union was blessed with four daughters: Karen, Jeanne, Lynn and Lisa. They moved to the Menahga, MN area when he retired, where they built their country retirement home. Marion preceded him in death in 1987. In 1994, he married Dorothy Maynard. He loved attending auction sales, hunting, fishing, fixing things, visiting and giving advice to friends and family. Walter will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Dorothy Wrabek of Park Rapids; his daughters: Karen (Richard) Kok of Park Rapids; Jeanne (Dr. Thomas) Eid of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Lynn (Steve Liston) Wrabek of Minneapolis, Lisa Wrabek of International Falls, MN; three step-children: Stanley and Eugenie Maynard of Kansas City, MO, Linda (Dr. Thomas) Callender of Bellingham, WA; nine beloved grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; two sisters: Viola Johnson of McGregor, MN and Vivian Nordgren of Minneapolis as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Walter was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Virginia Penard. Memorial services will be held 2 PM Friday, April 8, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Kantonen officiating. The organist will be Kris Kreutzer. The vocalists will be Walt and Anita Hanneman, singing "Be Still My Soul" and "On Eagle"s Wings". Congregational hymns will be: "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "When Peace Like a River". Honorary casketbearers will be his grandchildren: Fay Coscio, Elizabeth Eid, Erick Eid, Kelly Hanson, Cole Hennen, Christopher Kok, Paul Kok, Diana Livingstone and Jonathon Splittstoesser. Following the memorial service a luncheon will be provided by the family at the C"Mon Inn in Park Rapids.
