FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 am on Monday, April 4, 2011 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Stephen Norby officiating.VISITATION : 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN and for one hour prior to the services on Monday at the church.INTERMENT : Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MNSURVIVORS : His wife, Mavis of Park Rapids; his children: Jerard (Cheryl) Grover of Winnipeg, Canada, Thomas (Rhonda) Grover of Apple Valley, MN, Robert Grover of Bucyrus, Ohio, Lisa (Tom) Colburn of Park Rapids, MN, Bob (Brenda) Davis of Akeley, MN, Tammie (Todd Simison) Davis of Detroit Lakes, MN and Tony (Paula) Davis of Alexandria, MN; 16 grandchildren: Darin (Erika), Dylan, Lauren, Nate (Ashley), Matt, Justine, Tucker, Sam, Nickolas, Brooke, Cody, Jeffrey, Conner, Carson, Chandler and Weston; one precious great grandson, Jakson; his mother, Vi Grover of Park Rapids; his two sisters: Judy (David) Lewis of Stillwater, OK and Gini (Bill) Riddering of Maple Grove, MN; his four brothers: Greg (Joan) Grover of Park Rapids, Harold Grover of Bend , Oregon, Dale (Linda) Grover of Park Rapids and Bill (Renee) Grover of Moorhead, MN. ROBERT GERALD "Bud" GROVERSeptember 2, 1942 " March 29, 2011 Robert Gerald "Bud" Grover, age 68, a life long resident of Park Rapids, MN, died unexpectedly while vacationing with his wife in Palm Springs, California on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.Bud was born on September 2, 1942 in Park Rapids to Robert and Vi (Ryti) Grover. He attended Park Rapids Public Schools where he was a standout athlete who lettered in football, basketball, track and tennis. He graduated From Park Rapids High School with the class of 1960. He went on to attend St. Cloud State College where he earned his Bachelors degree in Education. He attended graduate school at St. Cloud State and earned his Masters in Education Administration. On July 29, 1960, Bud was united in marriage to Nancy McDowell at Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids. This union was blessed with four children: Jerard "Jug", Thomas "Tom" and twins, Robert "Bob" and Lisa. Bud taught the sixth grade in Helena, MT for one year and then returned home to help with the family business, Knapp-Grover Plumbing and Heating. Bud earned his Master Plumber"s license and became a partner in the family business. His career spanned nearly 40 years until his retirement in 2005. Bud along with his brothers, Dale and Bill also developed the Sunny Shores Seasonal Park in 1990. On February 27, 1999, Bud was united in marriage to Mavis Davis at the Riverside United Methodist Church in Park Rapids. This marriage blessed Bud with the addition of three children: Bob, Tammie and Tony. Bud was very active in his community and had been an active member of the Park Rapids Jaycees for many years. He also was a member of the Park Rapids Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years. He had been a life long member of Calvary Lutheran Church. Bud was an active member of the Headwaters Golf Club where he played many rounds of golf over the years. He loved hunting with family and friends at the hunting shack each year. He also enjoyed following his children"s and grandchildren"s sporting events. He loved watching all sports and was an avid MN Vikings and Twins fan. He loved his boxer dogs: Paula, Sam and Tara. For the past five years, Bud and Mavis have enjoyed spending a portion of their winters in Palm Springs, California.Bud will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mavis of Park Rapids; his children: Jerard (Cheryl) Grover of Winnipeg, Canada, Thomas (Rhonda) Grover of Apple Valley, MN, Robert Grover of Bucyrus, Ohio, Lisa (Tom) Coburn of Park Rapids, MN, Bob (Brenda) Davis of Akeley, MN, Tammie (Todd Simison) Davis of Detroit Lakes, MN and Tony (Paula) Davis of Alexandria, MN; 16 grandchildren: Darin (Erika), Dylan, Lauren, Nate (Ashley), Matt, Justine, Tucker, Sam, Nickolas, Brooke, Cody, Jeffrey, Conner, Carson, Chandler and Weston; one precious great grandson, Jakson; his mother, Vi Grover of Park Rapids; his two sisters: Judy (David) Lewis of Stillwater, OK and Gini (Bill) Riddering of Maple Grove, MN; his four brothers: Greg (Joan) Grover of Park Rapids, Harold Grover of Bend , Oregon, Dale (Linda) Grover of Park Rapids and Bill (Renee) Grover of Moorhead, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.He was preceded in death by his dad in 1979; two nephews: Shawn Grover and Chad Grover and a niece, Sara Grover.Funeral services were held 11 AM Monday, April 4, 2011 at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with the Rev. Stephen Norby officiating. Muff Magelssen was the organist. Congregational hymns were: "Bourning Cry" and "On Eagles Wings". Dave "Lefty" Anderson was the soloist and sang, "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "The Lord"s Prayer". The casket bearers were his brothers and brothers-in-law: Greg Grover, Harold Grover, Dale Grover, Bill Grover, David Lewis and Bill Riddering. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids. Visitation will be held from 3PM to 5 PM on Sunday, April 3rd at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home.
