BEVERLY JOYCE MEYERNovember 9, 1931 " May 6, 2011 Beverly Joyce Meyer, age 79 of Motley, MN formerly of Park Rapids, MN was promoted into Glory on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the Lakewood Health System in Staples, MN with her sons at her side. Bev was born on November 9, 1931 on the home farm near Oriska, ND to Frank and Rose (Kappel) Lindquist. She attended public school in Oriska where she lettered on the girls basketball team and also served as a cheer leader. She graduated from the Oriska Public High School with the Class of 1951. As a young woman, Bev ventured to Fargo, ND where she attended classes to become a nursing and dental assistant. She gained employment as a dental assistant in Moorhead and later worked as a nurses aid at the Prairie St.Johns Hospital in Fargo. On August 21, 1953, Bev was united in marriage to Fredrick Otto Meyer in Moorhead. This union was blessed with four children: Keith, Linda, Denise and Kurt. The young couple made their home in Eveleth, MN where Fred worked in the mines and they also farmed. In 1969, the family moved to Embarrass, MN where they resided until Fred"s retirement from the mine in 1990. They then moved to a lake home on Lower Bottle Lake north of Park Rapids, MN. Bev devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and children. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will be long remembered for her delicious homemade breads, beef roast and a great variety of other homemade dishes. Each spring she looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she nurtured into fruitful abundance to share with her family and friends. She also enjoyed raising flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. In 1998, Bev endured both the heartache of her beloved Fred"s death and undergoing a triple bypass open heart surgery. She continued making her home on Lower Bottle until 2007 when failing health caused her to move to Motley, MN where she resided with her son, Keith and daughter-in-law, Terry. Bev was a former member of the St. Josephs Hospital Auxiliary. Above all, she devoted her life to her children and grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart. Bev will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Keith (Terry) Meyer of Motley, MN, Linda (Paul) Fitch of Waseca, MN, Denise (Ron) Beschoff of Rapid City, SD and Kurt (Carla) Meyer of Embarrass, MN; 11 grandchildren: Kyle, Jessica, Jennie, Nathaniel, Ross, Chad, Tiffany, Dylan, Isaak, Anthony and Brian; l great granddaughter, Allie; her sister, Shirley Stoffel of Enderlin, ND as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two brothers: Donald and Gordon. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Thursday, May 12, 2011 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with the Reverend Stephen Norby officiating. Special music will be: "Amazing Grace", "When I Get Where I"m Going", "Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone)", "I Can Only Imagine" and "Hole in the Floor of Heaven". The casketbearers will be: Nathaniel Fitch, Ross Bischoff, Justin Fleischacker, Kirk Orr, Matthew Orr, Kastyopia Orr and Isaak Meyer. Visitation will be held beginning at noon on Thursday and run until the time of services. Interment will be made at the Lake Emma Cemetery north of Park Rapids, MN.
