LEROY H. CARROLLAugust 1, 1949 ~ May 16, 2011 Leroy Harrison Carroll, age 61, of Park Rapids, MN passed away on Monday, May 16, 2011 at St. Joseph"s Area Hospital in Park Rapids, MN. Leroy was born August 1, 1949 in Wichita Falls, Texas to Leroy H. Carroll, Sr. and Mary Musetta (Thompson) Carroll. He was raised in Texas and graduated high school in Rockdale, Texas in 1968. He studied at various institutions before taking a job with Otis Engineering and Haliburton Co. This position afforded Leroy the opportunity to work with the Red Adair Co. In addition, Leroy was able to travel the world working in various oil industry locations including: Austria, Holland, Canada, Texas, Alaska, Hawaii, California and Oklahoma. On December 31, 1976, Leroy married Ann Louise Johnson in Woodward, OK. Together, they raised their son, Jay. After two years, Leroy"s job took the family to Elk City, OK. He graduated from Southwestern OK State University in Weatherford, OK in 1996 with a degree in Sociology and Gerontology. In 1996, after graduating, he and his wife moved to Park Rapids, MN. Leroy held a job with a local grocery store before taking a position with Pine Manors. Leroy was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church. He was also a dedicated Mason, working through the orders to Shriners. He was passionate about politics and loved to play cards. Leroy will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann; his son, Jay (Jackie) Carroll of Bemidji, MN; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Johnson of Park Rapids, MN; one brother, Mike Carroll of Graham, TX; two sisters: Rena "Boo" Bayne of San Diego, CA and Candy Young of Amarillo, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with Reverend Lee Kantonen officiating. Linda Szuszitzky will be the organist. The congregational hymns will be: "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Just a Closer Walk With Thee". Visitation will be held for half and hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.
