LORRAINE B. WEAVERNovember 25, 1921 ~ August 25, 2011 Lorraine Beverly (Andrews) Weaver passed away peacefully at the Sanctuary at Bellbrook Nursing Center in Rochester Hills, MI on Thursday, August 25, 2011 with her family at her side. Lorraine was born on November 25, 1921 on the Ponsford prairie northwest of Park Rapids to William and Augusta (Etlich) Andrews. She attended the Andrews Country School and later attended Park Rapids High School. She married Walter Weaver on May 1, 1940, with whom she celebrated 64 years of marriage until his death in February of 2005. Lorraine was happiest as a true homemaker where she could be seen laboring at the kitchen sink, either baking a pie or canning her home grown vegetables. She was involved in 4-H and the Ponsford Prairie Partners. She also enjoyed her role at Weaver Motors " the first Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge Dealership in Park Rapids, where she served as the secretary and receptionist from 1964 until 1969. During this time, she was a member of the Business & Professional Women"s Club. After the sale of Weaver Motors, she moved to the Twin Cities area where she sold Avon until returning to Park Rapids in 1976. She became involved with the Senior Citizens Center and could be found either making craft type items for them to sell or serving at their dinners. If friends or relatives dropped in, she would most likely ask them to stay for dinner, followed by several hands of cards or a board game. She loved to embroider pillow cases or tablecloths until her hands would no longer allow her to do so. She loved to take the grandsons camping or fishing and was an avid hunter. She loved to travel and went on several cruises and especially enjoyed her trip to Hawaii and Alaska. In recent years, she resided in Woodside Manor in Menahga, Park Villa Apartments and Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids until moving to Oakland, MI in October of 2008 to live with her son, Charles and his wife. It was there that she found great joy in being able to watch for the deer and turkeys to come every day while she spent most of her time watching her favorite TV shows, reading and keeping track of "kitty cat". She especially enjoyed seeing her great granddaughter, Sera "making houses" in the living room while she played with her dollies and seeing grandson, Gage and his friends raiding the cookie jar and refrigerator. Lorraine will be lovingly remembered by her son, Charles (Sandra); grandsons: Dean, Jeffrey and Gage; great granddaughter, Sera all of Oakland, MI; sister-in-law, Bernice Andrews of Vancouver, WA; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; 5 brothers: Edwin, Harold, Gerald, Robert and James; 4 sisters: Berniece, Bertha, Lucile and Evelyn.
