George Eldon Buisman was born October 25, 1933 in Oak Park, MN to John (Jack) and Evelyn (Meyer) Buisman. He grew up in the Foreston area, graduating from Milaca High School in 1953. George served in the United States Army from 1954-1956. He enjoyed telling stories of times stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Lewis and Fairbanks, Alaska. On June 19, 1959 he married Judith "Judy" (Wallace) at Salem Lutheran Church in Foreston. The couple made their home in Princeton and were blessed with four children. George was employed by Elk River Concrete (Cretex) for 33 years, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, parades, wintering in Texas, road trips with his dog "Buffy" and his John Deere lawn tractors. He also enjoyed watching the Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, basketball, baseball and football. George was a big fan of the Milaca Wolves football team and seldom missed a game. He was an active lifelong member of the Hansen-Hayes Legion Post #178 of Milaca and very patriotic. He had a great respect for "the colors" and was sure to share his knowledge of our flag etiquette with anyone who may have forgotten "remove your hat" "stand up" or "salute"! George unselfishly donated countless hours of community service assisting his favorite candidates with their political campaigns. Spending time with family and friends was his true passion. George had a "gift to gab"! He organized and faithfully attended monthly coffee hour with high school friends in Milaca. He loved to visit and by chance if George "happened to be in the area" he would stop in to say hello, share his witty humor and a smile! George continued to give of himself, donating his body to the Univeristy of Minnesota Medical School. George touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
