LAURA THELMA (MATZ) SCHAVEJune 22, 1916 ~ October 25, 2011 Laura Thelma (Matz) Schave, age 95 of Menahga, MN passed away on Oct. 25, 2011 at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN. Laura was born June 22, 1916 in Corliss Township, near Perham, MN, to Charles and Anna (Balzer) Matz. She married Marvin Schave on October 28, 1936 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Corliss Township. When first married, Laura and Marvin farmed in the Butler Township. To this union their daughter Donna was born. Laura enjoyed gardening (always enjoyed having a tomato plant; even at Woodside Manor). She had a great sense of adventure through traveling. She and Marvin visited many of the 50 states, Mexico and Canada. Laura lived in Sebeka from 1945 to 2001. She enjoyed being a "snow bird" to Sun City, Arizona from 1978 to 2000. She enjoyed being active at Apostle's Lutheran Church in Peoria, AZ and the many recreation centers of Sun City. Over the many years the Grace Lutheran Priscilla Guild and LWML gave Laura much fellowship with the many Bible studies and projects. She so enjoyed all the preparations and serving of the numerous dinners and luncheons with her lady friends. Marvin lived until June 27, 1995. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Bolf and son-in-law, Matthew Bolf from Duluth, MN; a sister, Erna Rader from Perham, MN; two nephews: Lester Ziegler from Minneapolis, MN and Eldon Matz from Detroit Lakes, MN. Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin; her parents, Charles and Anna; sisters: Alma and Ethel, brothers: Reuben, Bernard and Edward. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Grace Lutheran Church, Sebeka, MN. Reverend Mark Hesse and Reverend Raymond Hendrickson will be officiating. The organist will be Donna (Schave) Bolf. Interment will be held at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Paddock Township. Casketbearers will be: Eldon Matz, Lester Ziegler, Don Matz, William (Bill) Wilson, Jerry Siegel and Larry Huotari.
