Rosemarie was born on January 31, 1971 to Rudolph and Joan (Gobernatz) Yliniemi in Detroit Lakes, MN. She attended grade school in Osage and continued her education at Park Rapids Area High School graduating with the class of 1991. In 1987, at the tender age of 16, Rosie along with her older brothers endured the loss of their mother, Joan. It was only a few years later she was diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy, a condition characterized by progressive muscle weakness that made it hard for her to get around. Her bright spirit, with the help of many friends and family allowed her to live independently. She was employed at the Hubbard County Day Activity Center where she worked in various positions over the years. Heartache again visited the family in 1997 when their father, Rudolph passed away and then in 2008 with the death of brother, Mark. Rosemarie enjoyed sewing especially embroidery. She belonged to The Cousins Quilting Club, a group that was more often about visiting than quilting. She loved being around children and animals, reading a good book and talking on the phone. Playing board games was a favorite pastime. Inviting her to a game of Triominos could always bring a smile to her face. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a faithful member at St. Marys Catholic Church in Two Inlets. Rosemarie will be lovingly remembered by her four brothers, Dale Yliniemi of Osage, Lyle Yliniemi of Osage, Scott (Kristie) Yliniemi of Ponsford, Todd (Emily) Yliniemi of Ponsford; nephew and nieces: Dannon, Bailey, Samantha and Sally Yliniemi; aunts: Anna, Gracie, Lila, Sharon and Sinea; uncles, Jake (Madeline) and Jack (Avis); along with many cousins and a host of friends.
