FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN with Pastor Eddie Hosch officiating.VISITATION : 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Jones Pearson Funeral Home, Park Rapids MN. and one hour prior to service on Wednesday at the church.INTERMENT : Snellman Cemetery near Snellman, MNSURVIVORS : Her daughter, Sandra (Joel) Nelmark of Menahga; her two sons, Ron (Lorretta) Mattson and Russ (Judy) Mattson both of Osage; one son-in-law, Chuck Becker of Grand Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Kivinen of Park Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Burlingame of Houston, TX and Senia Lindbom of Park Rapids and brother-in-law, Edwin Mattson of Detroit Lakes. GLADYS MATTSONJuly 24, 1920 ~ March 10, 2012 Gladys Etta Mattson, age 91 of Park Rapids, MN formerly of Osage passed away on March 10, 2012 with her children by her side at the Heritage Cottage in Park Rapids, MN. Gladys was born on July 24, 1920 in Carsonville Township, Ponsford, MN, one of five children born to Ira and Amy (Lemon) Burlingame. Gladys attended the Linnell School as a child. On April 9, 1942 Gladys married Richard O. Mattson at the Osage Baptist Church. This union was blessed with four children: Patricia, Sandra, Ron and Russ. They dairy farmed southeast of Osage until 1962 when they moved into Osage and built their new home. Gladys also worked for Osage Manufacturing for 15 years and the housekeeping department for 3M/Wonewok Retreat Center from 1962 until her retirement in 1982. Gladys was known to all as an excellent cook and baker. She enjoyed growing large gardens of vegetables and beautiful flowers. She was a long time member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Joel) Nelmark of Menahga; her two sons, Ron (Lorretta) Mattson and Russ (Judy) Mattson both of Osage; one son-in-law, Chuck Becker of Grand Rapids; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; sister, Ethel Kivinen of Park Rapids; 2 sisters-in-law, Betty Burlingame of Houston, TX and Senia Lindbom of Park Rapids; brother-in-law, Edwin Mattson of Detroit Lakes; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Amy; her husband of 62 years, Richard; her daughter, Patricia Becker whom she lost in 1996; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Rachel Mattson; two brothers, Royce and Ivan and one sister, Helen Olson. Funeral Service will be held 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday , March 14, 2012 at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN with Reverend Eddie Hosch officiating. The organist will be Evelyn Wehmas. Casketbearers will be: Joel Becker, Richard Becker, Brian Nelmark, Daniel Nelmark, Ross Mattson, Ryan Mattson and Jessica Mattson. Honorary casketbearers will be: Amy Donaldson, Jeff Becker, Lisa Eischens, Karen Wyttenback, LeAnn Nelmark, Robert Nelmark, Tracie Koskela, Geralyn Mikesh, Rory Mattson, Roth Mattson and Staff Sgt. Travis Mattson. Visitation will be held from 5-8:00 P.M. on Tuesday March 13, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN and for one hour prior to services at church on Wednesday. Interment will be held at the Snellman Cemetery.
