FUNERAL SERVICES : 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga with Reverend Steven Bruer officiating.VISITATION : One hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday.INTERMENT : Menahga City Cemetery, Menahga, MNSURVIVORS : His children: Donna (Bob) Schofield of Bargersville, IN and James (Betty) Nohr of Denver, CO; 2 grandchildren: Lisa (Doug) Ator and Deborah Nohr both of Denver, CO; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Verla (Roy) Putnam of Menahga, MN, Florence Buth of Barnesville, MN and Claris (Dick) Krohn of Grasston, MN; 3 brothers: Myron (Shirley) Kiefert of Park Rapids, MN, Ned Kiefert of Benson, MN and Marlin (Liz) Kiefert of Waconia, MN. ORLIN A. KIEFERTAugust 15, 1928 ~ May 11, 2012 Orlin Arthur Kiefert, age 83 of Menahga, MN formerly of Valley City, ND peacefully passed into eternity in the early morning hours of Friday, May 11, 2012 at Essentia Health Center in Fargo, ND after suffering a massive heart attack several days earlier. Orlin was born on August 15, 1928 in Venlo, North Dakota to Leo and Pearl (Liebing) Kiefert. As a small boy, Orlin moved with his family to Lisbon, ND where he attended public school. As a young man, he worked with his dad in the family mechanical repair business. In 1951, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Korean War working in the car pool. Upon receiving his honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota where he farmed with his brother, Harold near Valley City. Orlin later worked for the Wicks Construction Company as their mechanic for several years. On October 23, 1965 he was united in marriage to Aileen M. "Al" Nohr. In 1967, Orlin began the Hilltop Repair business in Valley City, ND where his mechanical ability allowed him to repair cars, trucks, tractors, lawnmowers and even television sets. Orlin and Al retired in the mid 1980"s and moved to Minnesota. They made their home in the Fergus Falls and Vergas areas before moving to the Menahga area in 1990 where Orlin has resided ever since. Orlin"s life was forever changed with the death of his beloved wife, Aileen in June of 2006. Orlin loved the out of doors and especially looked forward to fishing with his brother-in-law, Ray every week, spring through fall. He enjoyed hunting deer each fall. He also enjoyed hunting ducks and geese in his younger days. Each spring, he looked forward to planting a beautiful garden of vegetables and strawberries. He also enjoyed attending auctions when time allowed. Above all, Orlin devoted his life to his precious wife, Al and his children Donna and Jim and grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Donna (Bob) Schofield of Bargersville, IN and James (Betty) Nohr of Denver, CO; 2 grandchildren: Lisa (Doug) Ator and Deborah Nohr both of Denver, CO; 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Verla (Roy) Putnam of Menahga, MN, Florence Buth of Barnesville, MN and Claris (Dick) Krohn of Grasston, MN; 3 brothers: Myron (Shirley) Kiefert of Park Rapids, MN, Ned Kiefert of Benson, MN and Marlin (Liz) Kiefert of Waconia, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Orlin was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, "Al". Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN with Reverend Steven Bruer officiating. Casketbearers will be: Ray Putnam, Brad Buth, Steve Buth, Brian Kiefert, Allen Kiefert and Doug Kiefert. Military Honors will be provided by the Guy L. McDermeit V.F.W Post #6206. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Interment will be held at the Menahga City Cemetery in Menahga, MN. A luncheon will be hosted for all to attend following the service at the Menahga V.F.W.
