DELORES IDA FOLKESTADOctober 9, 1941 ~ May 17, 2012 Delores Ida Folkestad (Kangas), age 70 of Menahga, MN formerly of Twin Cities, MN passed away on May 17, 2012 at her residence near Menahga, MN. Delores was born on October 9, 1941 to Edwin and Linne (Haanpaa) Kangas in Becker County, Minnesota. She was one of seven children. Delores was happily married to Harold Folkestad for forty plus years. She taught 4th grade in the Twin Cities for years before retiring with Harold to the Park Rapids/Menahga area. Delores enjoyed the time she spent with children, loved going to auctions and flea markets. She was a world traveler and passed the travel gene to others in her family. Delores will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Norman Kangas (Shirley), Marvin Kangas (Linda), Frank Haataja (Joan), Debbie Carlson, Doreen McIntyre (John); nine nieces; five nephews; many great nieces, nephews, other relatives and her loving pooch, Bobbity. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Folkestad; her parents and step father; Brothers: Russell Kangas, Floyd Kangas and Bill Haataja; nieces: Metta Haataja and Shannon Kangas. We loved her so much and will miss her greatly, but are grateful she is at peace. A private family service will be held.
