VISITATION : 6-8:00 P.M. with a prayer service at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN.SURVIVORS : His sister, Margaret Gartner; brother, Jimmie Long; three grandchildren: Debbie Reinert, Sandy Ophus, Joan Schmitz and 6 great grandchildren. BUSTER (HAROLD) LONGSeptember 27, 1921 ~ August 24, 2012 Harold Francis Long, age 90 of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN. Buster was born to Floyd and Lena (Short) Long on September 27, 1921 in Arago Township, Hubbard County, Minnesota. As a boy he attended country school near his home though grade school. On November 7, 1945 Buster was united in marriage to Esther (Borton) Parks in Park Rapids. They made their home in Arago Township where Buster and Esther owned and operated the Arago Truck Stop and Restaurant on Highway 71 from 1962 until it was destroyed by a fire in 1975. He then concentrated his efforts on running the construction business that he had started in the mid 1960"s. He continued the construction operation until the mid 1990"s. Buster introduced his nephew David to the construction business even letting him run the grader at a very early age. He enjoyed raising horses and hitching them up to the sleigh or buggy to give rides to eager passengers. Buster will be lovingly remembered by family and friends. Buster is survived by his sister, Margaret Gartner; brother, Jimmie Long; three grandchildren: Debbie Reinert, Sandy Ophus, Joan Schmitz; 6 great grandchildren: numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Esther, and Step son, Jim Parks. A time of visitation will be held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MN with prayer service at 7:30.
