ROGER HENRY HENDRICKSONFebruary 27, 1934 " September 5, 2012 Roger Henry Hendrickson, age 78 of Dilworth, MN, formerly of rural Becker County west of Menahga, MN passed into eternity on Wednesday evening, September 5, 2012 at his home following a long and courageous battle with COPD. He died with his loved ones at his side and his wife holding his hand. Roger was born on February 27, 1934 to Henry and Cora (Storms) Hendrickson on his parent"s farm in Spruce Grove Township. He attended country school in a one room schoolhouse through the 8th grade and then attended high school in Frazee, MN where he graduated with the Class of 1952. Roger attended Junior College in Hibbing where he studied graphic design and pre-engineering. On September 16, 1955, Roger was united in marriage to the prettiest young lady in the Menahga, MN area and the love of his life, Ardess Irene Halvorson at the Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church in Mpls. This union was blessed with three children: Bradley, Beth and Stacey. The young couple began their lives together in Virginia, MN and also lived in Burley, ID and Moorhead, MN before relocating to Dilworth, MN in 1965. Roger gained employment working for the Ystebo Drywall Company in a career that spanned over 40 years. Roger worked extensively on building projects in the Fargo/Moorhead area as a drywall finisher and later in his career he ran the office and oversaw all the bidding and day to day operations. Roger was a long time and faithful member of the Dilworth Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors and especially looked forward to hunting and fishing trips with his family. He enjoyed working in his gardens raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Roger also enjoyed working with his hands creating many high quality wood working projects. He enjoyed making many items of furniture for his children and many toys for his grandchildren. Roger had a profound love of music and truly enjoyed singing to his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Above all, Roger devoted his life to his precious wife, Ardess, his children and his grandchildren who he loved with all his heart. Roger will be lovingly remembered by his wife for these past 57 years, Ardess of Dilworth; his son, Bradley (Desire"e) Hendrickson of Bismarck, ND; his two daughters: Beth (Greg) Hawkinson of Lakeville, MN and Stacey (Richard) Benson of Horace, ND; his five dearly loved grandchildren: Andrew, Daniel, Breck, Paige and Ryan Roger; his two sisters: Mary Lou Hendrickson of Bloomingdale, Ill and Donna (Ken) Lymburner of Osage, MN as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and l brother, Orville. Graveside services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery west of Menahga where Roger was buried next to his parents, just a few miles down the road from where he was born. The Reverend Stephen Norby officiated the service. The casket bearers will be: George Charles Halvorson, Dale Hendrickson, Kelly Hendrickson, Ken Lymburner, Virgil Nordby, Greg Hawkinson and Richard Benson. The special music included the congregation singing Roger"s favorite hymn, "Amazing Grace" and two special favorites of Rogers, "A Satisfied Mind" sung by Porter Wagoner and "Froggie Went A Courtin" a children"s song he sang to his children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Following the service, a luncheon will be hosted by the Bethany Lutheran Church.
