JASON RYAN BURTONOctober 9, 1982 " October 23, 2012 Jason Ryan Burton, age 30, a life long Park Rapids, MN area resident, tragically died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident while working in the oil fields near Williston, North Dakota on Tuesday, October 23, 2012.Jason was born on October 9, 1982 at St. Joseph"s Hospital in Park Rapids to Berrie and Julie (Ruhnke) Burton. As an infant Jason was plagued with painful chronic earaches and would be comforted in the loving arms of his mother who would rock him to sleep until Jason underwent surgery to rebuild his Eustachian tubes in his inner ears. Because of this, Jason and his mother bonded with a special closeness. He attended public schools in Park Rapids where he was a standout hockey player. After high school, Jason worked as a cook for Kahn"s Mongolian Barbeque in Park Rapids. He also worked for his older brother, Andrew in his construction business for seven years. In 2010, Jason ventured to the oil fields of western North Dakota where he gained employment servicing oil wells for the Pioneer Well Company. Jason loved the out doors and especially looked forward to the treasured times he could spend fishing, deer hunting and camping with his dad and older brother. As a young boy of ten years, Jason and his brother would impress the older men with their skill and accuracy trapshooting at the rifle range. In 2006, Jason met the love of his life, Jodi Kohler and has been deeply involved in the lives of her children: Devin and Michelle and Michelle"s children: Haylee and Lexi, all of whom he loved as his own. He had a profound love for animals and has an uncanny ability to connect with them. Above all, Jason cherished the times he could spend with his dad out in the woods or on a lake or river bank. He had a special tenderness in his heart for his mother and knew the infiniteness of her love for her boys. He could never go a day without talking with or doing something with his brother, Andrew and he never took for granted the heart connection he shared with his soul mate, Jodi.Jason will be lovingly remembered by his parents: Berrie and Julie Burton of Park Rapids; his brothers: Andrew of Park Rapids and Joel (Jaymie) Burton of the Edwards Airforce Base, CA; his soulmate, Jodi Kohler of Nevis, MN; his step-children: Michelle Hamblin, Devin Ferrian, Dalton Kohler and Britny Hamblin; his step-grandchildren: Haylee and Lexi; his three nephews: Kobe, Eli and Grayson Burton; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Gordon and Anna Lou Ruhnke and his paternal grandmother, Imogene Grubb.Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, October 29, 2012 at St Johns Lutheran Church in Park Rapids with Reverend James Neubauer and Reverend Tim Heinecke officiating. Sarah Kaufenberg will be the organist. Lynn Just will sing "On Eagle"s Wings". The congregational hymns will be: "I Know That My Redeemer Lives", "Jesus Lives, the Victory"s Won" and "Amazing Grace". The casketbearers will be: Anthony Murray, Tyler Ruhnke, BJ Smith, Matt Weaver, Ken Weaver, Luke Weaver, Devin Ferrian and Dalton Kohler. The honorary casketbearers will be: Alex Ruhnke, Natalle Ruhnke, Tayler Kamiel, Trista Rosing, Ashlee Rosing, Cailey Rosing, Madie Rosing, Jon Paul Koch, Jesse Koch, Michelle Hamblin, Britny Hamblin, Kobe Burton, Eli Burton and Grayson Burton. Interment will be made in the Greenwood Cemetery of Park Rapids, MN. Visitation will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM Sunday, October 28 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids and for one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
