FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church in Menahga, MN with Reverend Robert Smith officiating.VISITATION : One hour prior to the service.INTERMENT : Montrose Cemetery, Staples, MinnesotaSURVIVORS : Her husband Barry, her children Susan (Joel) Walsvik, Debra (Tom) Hartley, Bill (Sara), James (Jennifer) and Tom; five grand-daughters and eleven grand-sons; her brothers Harrison (Patti), William (Marsha), Burton (Carol) and her sister Martha (Steve) Majesk. FLORENCE "Liz" BLAHAJuly 13, 1937 ~ November 7, 2012 Florence Elizabeth (Liz) Blaha, a resident of rural Menahga, died Wednesday the 7th of November at the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home. Liz was born to Harry and Florence (Severson) Benjamin on July 13, 1937 in Hastings, MN. Liz received a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education from the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities in 1959. She was married to Barry Blaha on June 8th, 1960. She taught Home Economics in Verndale prior to becoming a stay home mom and raising her five children. She lived in rural Verndale on the Blaha family farm until 1999, and then lived her remaining years on 1st Crow Wing Lake near Menahga. Liz enjoyed many activities throughout her lifetime including quilting, gardening, traveling and spending time with her children and grand-children. Liz attended the Assembly of God church of Menahga and was a woman of strong faith.She is survived by her husband Barry, her children Susan (Joel) Walsvik, Debra (Tom) Hartley, Bill (Sara), James (Jennifer) and Tom; five grand-daughters and eleven grand-sons; her brothers Harrison (Patti), William (Marsha), Burton (Carol) and her sister Martha (Steve) Majeski; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Assembly of God Church in Menahga, MN with Reverend Robert Smith officiating. Paulette Smith will be the organist. Special music will be: "I Got a Mansion Over the Hilltop", "Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone" and "I"ll Fly Away". The casketbearers will be her grandsons: Aaron Hartley, Ben Walsvik, Alex Walsvik, Ryan Blaha, Andrew Blaha, Eric Blaha and Mitchell Blaha. The honorary casketbearers will be the Assembly of God Church Quilting Group. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
