FUNERAL SERVICES : 3:00 P.M. on Sunday December 9, 2012 at the White Oak Bible Chapel, Akeley, MinnesotaVISITATION :INTERMENT : A Spring Burial will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery, Park Rapids, MinnesotaSURVIVORS : His wife, Emeline Cook DOUGLAS COOKJanuary 2, 1928 ~ November 22, 2012 Douglas Covnick Cook was born Jan. 2, 1928 in St. Paul to Kenneth and Martha (Covnick) Cook. He was raised in Minneapolis and Washington DC, served in the United States Marine Corps and attended Minnesota State University. Doug was married to Emeline Frances Jabas (Dziabas) for 61 years and they had one child, Douglas Kyle Cook. Doug owned and operated several service stations for Pure Oil Company in the Twin Cities and also a General Trading Company store. He also served as a district manager for the Pontiac division of General Motors. Later, he moved to Akeley to operate his own hobby farm and later bought and operated Our Own Hardware in Park Rapids until he retired. Doug also served as township officer in Akeley and as County Commissioner of Hubbard County. After retirement he spent his time volunteering at Ah-Gwah-Ching in their historical museum, and served as an elder of the White Oak Bible Chapel where he loved to serve and point others to Jesus. Doug died on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 22, 2012 at 84-years-old. Doug was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Kyle Cook; brother, Kenneth Robert Cook; and his parents. He is survived by his wife, Emeline. Doug"s life was a constant testimony to God"s grace and salvation.
