RAYMOND E. CLARKJune 21, 1926 ~ December 4, 2012 Raymond (Ray) E. Clark, 86, of Park Rapids passed away on December 4, 2012, in Park Rapids. Ray was born June 21, 1926, in Indianola, Iowa, the son of Thelma (Hoffman) and Albert Clark.Ray enlisted in the U. S. Navy on his 17th birthday and proudly served in World War II on the LSM (R) 401, LSM (R) 508, and USS Saugus. After the war, he joined the U. S. Navy Seabees and served in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He returned to Des Moines East High School after his service, earning his diploma in 1952. He married Mary Joan "Jo" (Cowen) Clark on November 28, 1945, in Paulsbo, Washington. Ray was a Captain on the Des Moines Fire Department retiring in 1969. Ray and Jo spent many enjoyable visits to Long Lake and made it their home in 1971. He had many and varied interests throughout his life including earning a commercial pilot"s license. He was a skilled craftsman and enjoyed helping out his many friends with numerous projects big and small. In addition, he derived great pleasure in the many hours and days spent fishing on Long Lake. Ray was a 32 Mason.Ray is survived by his wife, "Jo"; his son Stephen Clark of Pinos Altos, New Mexico; his daughter, Susan French of Waterford, Connecticut and his granddaughter, Jillian French of Groton, Connecticut.His family and friends too numerous to mention will forever miss his kindness, wit, and generosity.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 7, 2012 at the Hubbard Cemetery in Hubbard, MN.
