DEANNA DEE "Dee Dee" MOORLAGNovember 11, 1940 ~ December 8, 2012 Deanna Dee (Hendrickson) Moorlag, age 72, a long time Pease, MN resident passed from this life to eternal life on Saturday, December 08, 2012 at the Milaca Elim Care and Rehab Home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Dee Dee was born on November 11, 1940 during the Great Armistice Day Blizzard on the family farm east of Milaca to Russell and Evelyn (Benson) Hendrickson. She attended school in Milaca where she graduated with the class of 1958. After graduation Dee Dee moved to Minneapolis where she worked before returning to Milaca to marry Dowert (Dewey) Moorlag on September 18, 1959. They honeymooned in town for a year before moving to the Moorlag family farm south of Pease. Dewey and Dee Dee were blessed with four sons: Daniel, Donald, Duane and Darin. Dee Dee devoted her life to raising her children. When her sons went to school, Dee Dee started working at Olson"s SuperValu, where she was known for her radiant smile, kind words and friendly personality. Dee Dee retired from Olson"s in 2005; she later went back to work part-time at Coborn"s in Princeton because she missed visiting with the community. She loved hosting family gatherings, gardening, playing Scrabble, feeding the birds, putting together puzzles, and doing the daily Crossword puzzle. Even though the competition between their Dutch and Swedish heritages provided constant humor to the family, Dee Dee happily became an active member of the Christian Reformed Church of Pease. She was a Bible school teacher, attended women"s Bible studies, served funeral lunches and made the topping for thousands of Dutch apple pies to support the Guatemala mission. Dee Dee cherished time with friends and family and could often be found sharing a cup of coffee with her loved ones. She was a dedicated grandmother who spent hours in the car traveling to various concerts, recitals, sporting events, graduations, birthday parties and weddings. The grandchildren loved to spend weeks at the farm playing in the woods, eating "Eww Hotdish" and coloring and reading with Grandma. Dee Dee continued to be loved by her great-grandchildren to whom she was known as Grandma Dee with the popsicles and toy trucks. Dee Dee"s smile, laugh, kindness and love will long be remembered by not only her family but all those who knew her. She will be lovingly remembered by her three sons: Daniel (Janeen) Moorlag of Cold Spring, MN, Donald (Julee) Moorlag of Pease, MN and Duane Moorlag of Pease, MN; grandchildren Britani (Casey) Christenson of Mankato, MN, Jonathan (Sara) Moorlag of Sartell, MN, Jackelyn (Cabot) Bekius of Avon, MN, Corianna (Tim) Hackbarth of St. Michael, MN, Dylan Moorlag and fiancé Katlyn Elton of Milaca, MN and Alexander Moorlag of Cold Spring, MN; great-grandchildren Lucas, Andrew and Alison; brothers and sisters Bruce (MaryJane) Hendrickson of Portland, OR, Dale (Marty) Hendrickson of Milaca, MN, Bette (Frank) Hahn of Minnetonka, MN, Gary Hendrickson of Bock, MN, Mark Hendrickson of Maple Grove, MN, and Vicki (Bill) Weikert of Foreston, MN, sister-in-law Jackie (Lonnie) Strandlund of Foreston, MN; as well as many nieces and nephews. Dee Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey; her son, Darin; her parents; her brother, Jan; and her niece, Jamie. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church in Pease, MN with Reverend Tom Sahlstrom officiating.
