FUNERAL SERVICES : 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 7, 2013 at United Methodist Church in Sebeka, MN with Reverend Steve Koehn officiating.VISITATION : 4-6:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.INTERMENT : Wadena Cemetery, Wadena, MinnesotaSURVIVORS : His three children, their spouses, his 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. In Loving Memory ROYAL BECKER STEINER was born March 4, 1920, in Allen County, Indiana, the only child of Abraham and Anna (Becker) Steiner. While an infant, his family moved to Ft. Wayne, Indiana, where he was raised. Upon graduation from high school Royal enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a Staff Sergeant in WWII. Upon his return from Egypt, he enrolled in Ft. Wayne Bible College where he met and married Nelva Merle Reinders on August 30, 1946. He graduated from Taylor University with his BA in Fine Arts in 1950, and earned a Masters of Divinity from Dubuque Theological Seminary in 1953. He entered the ministry in the Methodist denomination and together he and Nelva raised 3 children (David, Susan (Nash), and Kathryn (Munson) while he served in 12 churches in Iowa and Minnesota over four decades, most recently Wadena, Breckenridge, Foxhome, Long Prairie, Grey Eagle and Buffalo Lake. Upon his retirement he initially settled in Long Prairie, Minnesota and in 2006 he moved to Menahga, Minnesota, living in Woodside Manor where he was known as everybody"s Chaplain. He was Vice President of the Volunteers at Woodside Manor / Green Pine Acres. He coordinated the Thursday evening movie night and continued to serve as a guest preacher and storyteller until his death.Preceding Royal in death were his parents, his first wife Nelva (Reinders) who died in 1972 and in 2004, Polly (Walker) his second wife. Royal is survived by his three children, their spouses, his 13 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.Royal was known for his humor, kindness, and his can-do attitude. He was always inventing new and better ways to do things. During his final years he was working on a book called The Wind in My Face " As My Troubles Slip Away. This text comprises stories and illustrations collected over 50 years of ministry that offer testimony of the power of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Even until the last days of his life, he was sharing these stories and illustrations as part of his lifelong service to the Lord.He will be missed and remembered long after his passing.
