INTERMENT : Graveside services were held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN.SURVIVORS : His children, Wayne (Judy) Reynolds of Clearwater, MN, Charles (Marlene) Reynolds of Detroit Lakes, MN, Kenneth Reynolds of Dallas, TX, Judith (Charlie) Phillips of Nevis, MN, Linda (Rich) Remiger of Apple Valley, MN, Nancy Reynolds of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Shelly, Jim, Kris, Dave, Kathy, Brenda, Jeff, Dan, Wendy, Scott; great grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, Brett, Brianna, Jon, Lauren, Rachel, Alex, Nick, Katie, Morgan, Matthew, Hannah, Julia, Colby, Phillipa, Megan, Maddy, Ally, Joey, Jack, and Ryan; and one sister, Louise (William) Lehnherr of Edina, MN. ORVIN EDWARD "Orv" REYNOLDSMarch 13, 1920 January 13, 2013 Orvin Edward "Orv" Reynolds, age 92 of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.Orv was born on March 13, 1920 in Park Rapids, MN to John "Cap" and Hilda (Swanson) Reynolds. He attended public school in Park Rapids where he played football and participated in the high school band. He graduated with the class of 1939. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Hewitt at the First English Lutheran Church of Dorset in 1939. As a young man, Orv relocated to Superior, WI where he worked in the shipyards during WWII. Following the war, Orv returned to the Park Rapids area and held several different jobs. He also attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis where he earned his welding certification. In 1954, he moved with his family to Bloomington, MN where he began a 30 year long career selling heavy duty construction equipment. In the early 1980"s, Orv and Gert retired to a home on Boulder Lake, northeast of Park Rapids. Orv"s life was deeply saddened by the death of his wife in 2006. In 2008, he moved to Summerfield Place in Park Rapids where he lived until recently moving to Heritage Living Center due to failing health. Orv was a man of many interests. He loved music and began playing piano at the age of six. In the 1940"s, Orv started a dance band called the "Top Hatters" and during those years he had his own radio show on KWAD out of Wadena, MN. Through the years, Orv used his musical talents to play at weddings, church activities, private parties, The West 40 Restaurant, nursing homes, family events and at the Pioneer Village at Itasca. A great volume of the music he played was from memory. Orv loved the outdoors and as a young man enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his membership at the Headwaters Golf Course. During his lifetime Orv achieved two holes in one. He loved the camaraderie of a good game of cards. He liked playing bridge at the Park Rapids Senior Center and whist at the Nevis Senior Center. Orv devoted his life to his family. He was proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved the close personal relationships he enjoyed with them. Orv is survived by his children, Wayne (Judy) Reynolds of Clearwater, MN, Charles (Marlene) Reynolds of Detroit Lakes, MN, Kenneth Reynolds of Dallas, TX, Judith (Charlie) Phillips of Nevis, MN, Linda (Rich) Remiger of Apple Valley, MN, Nancy Reynolds of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Shelly, Jim, Kris, Dave, Kathy, Brenda, Jeff, Dan, Wendy, Scott; great grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, Brett, Brianna, Jon, Lauren, Rachel, Alex, Nick, Katie, Morgan, Matthew, Hannah, Julia, Colby, Phillipa, Megan, Maddy, Ally, Joey, Jack, and Ryan; one sister, Louise (William) Lehnherr of Edina, MN; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gertrude; two brothers: Orville and Harold; three sisters: Frances, Dorothy and Agnes and one granddaughter in infancy. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset, MN with Reverend Chris Davis officiating. Memorials are preferred to: First English Lutheran Church of Dorset and Living At Home.
