Star of the North Marine Corps League will provide the Military Honors at 2:00 P.M.SURVIVORS : His wife, Sherry; his 2 sons: Jeremy (Casey) Golden of Lake Alfred, FL, and Jacob (Meghan) Golden of Deer Park, WI; his 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Andy Golden of San Antonio, TX, Ray (Pam) Golden of Minneapolis, MN, and Rory (Vicki) Golden of Lake City, MN; 2 sisters: Dottie Johnson of Red Wing, MN, and Jeanie Bennett of Dallas, TX. DAVID G. GOLDENAugust 3, 1955 ~ March 24, 2013 David Gregory Golden, age 57 of Park Rapids, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at St. Joseph"s Area Health Services in Park Rapids following a valiant battle against numerous health issues and finally, lung cancer.Dave was born on August 3, 1955, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Andrew and Lorena (Calvert) Golden. As a small boy, he moved with his family to Red Wing, MN, where he attended public schools. In 1973, he entered the United State Air Force where he proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1975. On April 24, 1980, Dave was married to Sherry Ann Arntson. Their union was blessed with 2 sons: Jeremy David and Jacob Andrew. The young couple made their home in Minnesota where Dave worked as a mechanic, and later after moving to Florida in 1988, he gained employment as the maintenance supervisor at the Peace River Mental Health Center. In 1998, Dave and Sherry moved back to Minnesota and purchased a farm near Two Inlets where they raised beef cattle, hogs and goats. For many years, David"s life was complicated and threatened with some serious health issues which he battled with a vengeance outliving all his doctors' predictions. In the words of Sherry, "He was one tough turd." Dave loved the outdoors and especially looked forward to hunting and fishing with his sons and other relatives and friends. He enjoyed working with his hands building and fixing almost anything imaginable. Dave especially adored his eight grandchildren whom he lived for. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sherry; his 2 sons: Jeremy (Casey) Golden of Lake Alfred, FL, and Jacob (Meghan) Golden of Deer Park, WI; his 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers: Andy Golden of San Antonio, TX, Ray (Pam) Golden of Minneapolis, MN, and Rory (Vicki) Golden of Lake City, MN; 2 sisters: Dottie Johnson of Red Wing, MN, and Jeanie Bennett of Dallas, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lorena; 1 brother, Jerry, and 1 sister, Velma.
