MEMORIAL SERVICES : 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN.VISITATION : One hour prior to the service on Saturday.INTERMENT : Green Hills Cemetery, Sebeka, Minnesota HELMI "PEARL" CHRISTIANSONJanuary 17, 1910 ~ March 30, 2013 Helmi "Pearl" Maryo Johanna Widell was born to John and Maggie (Nelson) Widell on January 17, 1910 in Section 23 of Blowers Township in Ottertail County, Minnesota. She was delivered by her grandma Nelson at home on the Widell family farm. She attended school at the "Nikkari" Country School and graduated from the 8th grade. She moved to Minneapolis to find employment as a teenager. Pearl was employed as a cook in private homes in and around the lakes area. On July 22, 1936 she married Louis Mattson. Together they ran "Mattson Candy Company". Pearl worked for 15 years as a cook at "Lee"s Broiler" in downtown Minneapolis. Louis died in 1969. She moved back to Sebeka in 1970. There, she enjoyed her retirement. On May 17, 1974 she married Norman Christianson. Norman passed away in April of 1979. Pearl then moved to Rose Haven in Menahga on August 7, 2002. Her "family" there cared for her until her death on March 30, 2013. She lived to be 103! Pearl is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her two husbands: Louis and Norman; her brothers: Arvid, Bill, Ed, Arne, Oscar, Willard, Charlie and infant brother, Richard and her sister, Hilma. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. We celebrate her long life, her giving heart and her stong example of faith.
