J OSEPH JOHN KENDALLNovember 25, 1943 ~ April 5, 2013 Joseph John Kendall, age 69 passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 in Menahga, MN. Joe was born on November 25, 1943 to Ollie and Alfrieda (Holler) Kendall. He attended school in Osage and Park Rapids. He proudly served our country in the Air Force. Upon his medical discharge from the military, he returned to Minnesota where he worked at many various jobs throughout the state. Eventually, Joe returned to Osage where he once again could enjoy all the area had to offer and he could satisfy his love for fishing. Many people in Osage knew Joe as a dependable handyman and a jack-of-all-trades. Joe also stayed at home to care for his father and mother until their deaths in 1978 and 2004. He will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as "quite a character" and a great story teller. Joe did not believe in letting the truth get in the way of a good story. He is survived by 2 older sisters: Darlene Bestland of Marine on St. Croix and Lottie (Tom) Mettert of Osage; 5 younger sisters: Kathryn (Sava) Filipovic of Florida, Judy (Ron) Girtz of Park Rapids, Laurie (Terry) Kimball of Osage, Sharyl (Bob) Sanford of Menahga, Denise (Dave) Smith of Park Rapids and Mary of Thief River Falls; 5 younger brothers: Donald (Joyce) of Osage, Jerald (Pat) of Rochert, Oliver of Detroit Lakes and Tom and Dale of Osage; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie and Freda; an infant sister, Dolores Irene; 2 sisters-in-law: Zita (Tom) Kendall and Diana (Oliver) Kendall. There will be a Time of Remembrance held from 6-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids.
