FUNERAL SERVICES : 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN.VISITATION : One hour prior to the service at the funeral home.INTERMENT : Menahga City Cemetery, Menahga, MNSURVIVORS : Her mother, Jennie; her sister, Shirley Koskiniemi of Park Rapids; her two nieces: Cheryl (Rev. Donald) Main of Morris, MN and Connie (David) Strandquist of Hawley, MN; 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews. ELAINE R. SAKKINENMay 22, 1944 ~ April 11, 2013 Elaine Roslyn Sakkinen, age 68 of Menahga, MN passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.Elaine was born on May 22, 1944 to Eddie and Jennie (Hovin) Sakkinen near Menahga, MN. She attended country school and the Menahga High School where she graduated with the Class of 1962. Elaine enjoyed the arts and was a gifted drawer and painter. She visited her sister, Shirley and family in Sacramento, California where she also worked for over a year at McClellan Air Force Base. She enjoyed visiting all the scenic places in the area, too. Later, she visited her sister and family in Leavenworth, Kansas. Elaine lived most of her life, however, with her parents. She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends. Elaine also enjoyed the nursing home where she took part in various activities.She is survived by her mother, who at age 93 is still doing great, Jennie; her sister, Shirley Koskiniemi of Park Rapids; her two nieces: Cheryl (Rev. Donald) Main of Morris, MN and Connie (David) Strandquist of Hawley, MN; 3 great nieces and 2 great nephews.Elaine was preceded in death by her father and a great nephew, Justin.Funeral services will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN with Reverend Donald Main officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service.
