DENNIS L. BROMENApril 6, 1935 ~ April 23, 2013 Dennis LeRoy Bromen, Sr., age 78 of Menahga, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Green Pine Acres Nursing Home in Menahga, MN.Dennis was born on April 6, 1935 in Minneota, Minnesota to Louis and Helen (Rezencheck) Bromen. It was in the Padua, MN area that he attended public school and grew up helping on his parent"s on their farm. As a boy, Dennis started repairing small engines and worked himself up to working on automobiles and finally big diesel rigs. On August 11, 1956 he was united in marriage to Bernadine Hankins in St. Paul, MN. Dennis joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1962. After his honorable discharge, Dennis worked as a mechanic for South St. Paul Chevrolet. He later worked as a machinist for Viking Tool and Drill. In 1968, Dennis gained employment with the White Truck Company in a career that was cut short due to a serious injury he sustained while on the job in 1970. Dennis was paralyzed and after three surgeries he was able to walk again. In 1980, Dennis and Bernadine moved to Menahga where they purchased a home on Spirit Lake. Bernadine passed away in 2001 following a valiant battle against cancer. Dennis enjoyed working with wood; building cabinets, corner shelves and lawn ornaments. An avid outdoorsman, Dennis loved to fish and hunt. Dennis is survived by his children: Karen Bromen of St. Paul, MN, Sharon (Bill) Borris of St. Paul, MN, Sally Lynscott of Austin, MN, Dennis Bromen, Jr. of Pequot Lakes, MN, Donald Bromen of Bay City, WI and Ronnie Bromen of New York Mills, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Helen and his wife, Bernadine.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at the Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home in Menahga, MN with Reverend Steve Koehne officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Menahga City Cemetery in Menahga.
