SENIA E. YLINIEMI-LINDBOMDecember 17, 1917 ~ May 10, 2013 Senia E. Yliniemi-Lindbom, age 95, a life long Osage, MN area resident, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN.Senia was born on December 17, 1917 in Snellman, MN to Joel and Anna (Karvinen) Mattson. It was in the Snellman area that Senia attended country school. As a young woman, Senia ventured out and worked as a nanny for Ike Yliniemi in the Wolf Lake area. It was there that she met her future husband, Wilbert Samuel Yliniemi. The young couple was united in marriage on June 21, 1936. Their union was blessed with 3 daughters: Bernice, Beatrice and Diana. They engaged in dairy farming in the Wolf Lake area for 18 years until selling the farm in 1955 and moving to Chisholm where Wilbert worked in the mines. Senia began working for the Amalgamated Cotton Garment Company in Virginia, MN in a career that spanned over 24 years. They retired back to the Snellman area in 1977, where Wilbert built their retirement home near Osage, MN. Senia devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her delicious Finnish flatbreads and fudge. Her daughters remember the sounds of her voice as her singing would fill their home. In her spare moments, she kept herself busy by knitting, crocheting, embroidering and for over 70 years has made and sold hundreds of woven rugs. Senia loved the out of doors and each spring would look forward to planting a large vegetable garden which she raised into fruitful abundance to can for her ever growing family and friends. She also looked forward to raising colorful flowers for all to enjoy. Her life was deeply saddened by the death of her precious husband, Wilbert on February 27, 1990. On June 10, 1995, she married Ralph Lindbom at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman. They enjoyed 15 years together until Ralph"s death in 2010. She was a long time member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN. She also enjoyed reading and challenging herself with a good crossword puzzle. She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Bernice (Roger) Musech of Maple Grove, MN, Beatrice (Petie) Racette of Eagan, MN and Diana (Dan) Eischens of Osage, MN; her grandchildren: Margo Rambow of Big Lake, MN, Cheryl (Justin) Carlson of Apple Valley, MN, Tom Racette of Lino Lakes, MN, Nicole (Tim) Kruse of Hugo, MN and Jeanie (Chris) Coborn of Osage, MN; her great-grandchildren: Steve (Jenny) Musech, Tom, Ashley and Amanda Rambow, Mitchell and Michael Kruse, Mac Carlson, Cole, Kaisa and Kendra Coborn; her great-great grandson, Logan Musech; her step-children: Ron (LaVonne) Lindbom and Rene (Tim) Weeks of Osage, MN; her brother, Edwin Mattson; her brothers and sisters-in-law: Jake (Madeline) Yliniemi, Anna Johnson, Sharon Yliniemi, Lila Yliniemi and Grace Yliniemi.Senia was preceded in death by her parents, Joel and Anna Kaisa; her husbands: Wilbert Yliniemi and Ralph Lindbom; grandson, Michael Musech; sisters: Sylvia Laine and Violet Hukee and brothers: Walter and Richard Mattson.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Snellman, MN.
