Monday June 3, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George, MN.VISITATION :5 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday June 2, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lake George, MN, also, 1 hr. prior to service on Monday 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.INTERMENT :Lake George Cemetery KAREN ANN "KAY" JOHANNSEN October 24, 1942 " May 29, 2013Karen Ann "Kay" Johannsen, age 70, of Lake George, MN, peacefully entered eternity, very unexpectedly, on Wednesday, May 29, 2013, while a patient at the University of Minnesota Medical Center- Fairview in Minneapolis, MN. Kay was born on October 24, 1942 in Parkers Prairie, MN to Reuben and Charmaine (Faehnrich) Westad. She was confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN. Kay graduated from the Mountain Iron Public High School with the Class of 1960 and then went on to attend the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis where she studied office management. On December 22, 1962, Kay was united in marriage to Walter D. "Bud" Johannsen at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. This union was made complete by the birth of their daughter, Tracy. Kay devoted herself to making a warm and loving home for her husband and daughter. Later when Tracy was older, Kay resumed her career in office management. She worked at various offices in Bemidji rounding out her working years with the Board of Water and Soil Recources, State of MN in Bemidji. After her retirement, Kay enjoyed keeping busy part-time working as an accountant for Itasca Moccasin in Lake George. Kay was an active and faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George. She loved the out doors; especially working in her garden, snowmobiling, camping and spending time with her family. She was a gifted artist who loved to work with stained glass and paint. Above all, Kay dedicated her life to her husband, her daughter and son-in-law and her precious grandson, Eric, who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband for these past 50 years, Bud Johannsen; her daughter, Tracy and her husband, Dennis Bittmann of Lake George; her grandson, Eric; her five sisters: Sharon and Janice of Wadena, MN, Nadine (Donald) Myers of White Bear Lake, MN; Christine (Mike) Eastman of Jonesburg, MO and Julie (Dick) Johnson of Bemidji, MN; her three brothers: Robert (Karen) Westad of Litchfield, MN, Pete (Lynne) Westad of Lewisburg, TN and John (Barb) Westad of Lake George, a sister-in-law, Grace (Bill) Lessman of Laporte and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Kay was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bryan Douglas Westad, two infant grandsons: Tyler Dean and Derek John Bittmann; a brother-in-law, Alan Squier and her parents. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday, June 3, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George with the Reverend Donald Kirchner officiating. The organist will be: Karen Lueth. The active casket bearers will be: Michael Johnson, Brett Lessman, Keith Skersick, Kris Skersick, James Bittman and Calvin Johnannsen. The honorary casket bearers will be Rachel Johnson, Josh Westad, Jake Westad, Kayla Skersick, Katie Skersick and Kari Skersick. Interment will be made in the Lake George Cemetery. Following the service a luncheon will be hosted by the Trinity Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held from 5 PM to 8PM Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake George.
