Date to be determined Dorothy MaryJane Meyers Stewart March 2, 1931 - July 31, 2013 Dorothy MaryJane (Meyers) Stewart passed away peacefully on July 31, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones at her side, at the Heritage Living Center in Park Rapids, MN. Dorothy was born in Ironwood, MI, March 2, 1931 to Ludwig and Edna (Pauna) Meyers. At age 5, her family moved to Menahga, MN where she attended Wadena county schools and graduated from Wadena High School in 1950. She lived in Minneapolis, MN for 6 yrs where she worked at First National Bank and Walker Art Center followed by 1 year in Salem, OR working for "The Statesman" newspaper. Dorothy married Ray T. Stewart of Henning, MN July 13, 1957 at United Methodist Church in Wadena. They lived in Fergus Falls, where she worked at J.C. Penny, Roosevelt Sr. High School, and son Scott was born. They moved to Fargo, ND where daughter Karla was born, then to Grand Forks before moving to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1963. In DL, Dorothy worked at Lake Region Clinic and was assistant manager at Fashion City. She earned her nursing license (LPN) in 1974, then worked at Emmanuel Nursing Home. She also enjoyed her bowling league and was a member and Sunday School teacher at United Methodist Church and part of Circle C.After her children started college, Dorothy and Ray moved to Reno, NV where she worked at Riverside Hospital for Skilled Care and Sierra Health Care until her retirement. In 2004, they moved to Menahga, MN, then Park Rapids in 2009. Dorothy loved the mountains, desert, poetry, Stephen Ambrose books, baking cookies, mini-travel trips, note writing to friends and family, and Minneapolis, home of the Twins and Vikings.Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two nephews. She is survived by husband Ray; daughter Karla (Lill), Minneapolis; and son Scott (Jessica) with her granddaughters Scout and Paige, Park Rapids; sister Julie Helen Honeycutt, Denver, CO; brothers Marvin Meyers, Menahga; Irwin Meyers (Joan), Bemidji; uncle Les Pauna, Duluth; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. This fine lady is greatly loved and greatly missed.
