FUNERAL SERVICES : Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, MN. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.Eugene D. Jindra, 89, of Park Rapids, passed away on at in Park Rapids. He was born in , to James and Gladys (Ablard) Jindra. Gene served his country in the Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater in WWII from 1942 until 1945. He married Isabelle Klein in Onamia in 1952. For the next thirty years Gene had a career as a Trooper, attending school for the state patrol in 1952. He began his tenure in , , followed by Brainerd and then as the first state trooper stationed in Park Rapids. Gene worked as a deputy until retiring in 1990. Following retirement Gene made three trips that fulfilled lifelong wishes: He attended the Goodwill Summer games in 1990 in , the Frontier Days and Rodeo in 1997 and he went halibut fishing in in 2003. He also attended the Frozen Four National Tournament in , , in 2009, at the encouragement of his friends Dave and Sandy. While there he visited the WWII Memorial. August 23, 2013 , his parents and his brothers George and Ivan. He is survived by sons: Kevin (Marie) Jindra of Elk River, Minnesota, Hugh Jindra of Park Rapids, Joel Jindra of Park Rapids, daughters; Mary (Dave) Lehrke of Park Rapids, Julie (Scott) Delaney of West Fargo, North Dakota, grandsons: Derek, Tyler, Zach, Billy; granddaughters: Allie, Bobbie, Roni, Patty, great-grandson Denver, sister Mille, two sisters-in-law, one brother-in law and numerous nieces and nephews.
