JENSEN October 22, 1930 - October 15, 2013 Kermit Duane Jensen age 82 of Park Rapids, MN, formerly of Minneaplis, peacefully entered Heaven"s Gate in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at his home on Long Lake.Kermit was born on October 22, 1930 in Hurley, South Dakota to Louis and Martina (Anderson) Jensen. It was in Viborg, South Dakota that he attended public school, graduating with the class of 1948. On December 3rd , 1950, Kermit was united in marriage to the prettiest gal in all of Viborg, Geraldine Marie Berthelsen. This union was blessed with two sons: Roger and Bradley. In 1951, Kermit entered the United States Army where he bravely served his country as a radioman. He fought on the front lines of some of the heaviest combat of the Korean War. He received his honorable discharge in November of 1953. He then returned home to Viborg to his young wife and his new baby boy he had not yet held in his arms. In 1961, the Jensen family relocated to Minneapolis where Kermit gained employment with the Minneapolis Veterans Administration Hospital as an EEG technician in a career that spanned over 28 years until his retirement in 1989. Kermit and Gerry had purchased property on Long Lake many years earlier to which they enthusiastically retired to in 1990. Kermit was an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler who loved living in Northern MN. For many winters, Kermit and Gerry enjoyed being snowbirds in Texas and Arizona. Above all, Kermit devoted his life to his precious wife, Gerry; his sons, grand children and great grand children who he loved with all his heart.He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and soulmate for these past 63 years, Gerry of Park Rapids; his two sons: Roger (Cindy) Jensen of St. Louis Park, MN and Bradley of Park Rapids; his three grandchildren: Martina (Scott) Forbes of Nevis, Bradley (Kaye) Jensen of Richfield, MN and Garrett (Jessica) Jensen of Park Rapids; six beloved great grandchildren: Hailey, Ashley, Haillee, Allee, Ava and Evan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Kermit was preceded in death by his parents.Memorial services will be held 2 PM Saturday, October 19, 2013 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids with the Reverend David Cripe officiating. The Urnbearers will be his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Interment will be made in the Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by the Otto Hendrickson American Legion Post #212 in Park Rapids with Bugler, Ray Vaadeland.
