FUNERAL SERVICES :11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church, Wolf Lake MNVISITATION : 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Jones-Pearson Funeral Home in Park Rapids, MNINTERMENT : Balmi CemeterySURVIVORS : February 4, 1936 Mary Ann Salmonson, age 77, went home to be with the Lord on October 24, 2013 at her home with her family at her side. Mary Ann was born on February 4, 1936 in the township of Dupont of Waupaca County near Marion, Wisconsin to Carl and Selma (Koepke) Schwan. She was brought up on a dairy farm where she learned at an early age the value of good hard work as she helped with all the chores. She attended the Sunrise Country School near her home through the eighth grade and then went on to high school in Marion, WI where she graduated in 1953. After high school Mary Ann ventured to Milwaukee. While in Milwaukee, she met a young man from Minnesota who had just been honorably discharged from the Army, George Salmonson. The young couple were married on September 4, 1955 in Marion, WI. Mary Ann continued to work until her first daughter was born. Later to help make ends meet, she got a job as a file clerk for the George J. Meyer Manufacturing Company in Cudahy, WI. She worked the first shift and George worked the third shift so they could take turns taking care of the girls. In 1964, they moved to Toad Lake township near Osage, MN where they engaged in dairy farming. She was a long time and faithful member of the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church near Wolf Lake, MN where she was a former Sunday School teacher and organist. For a number of years she worked at the Snellman Store. Mary Ann and George sold the farm in 2007 and moved into a newly built home in Menahga, MN. In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoyed making rugs on her loom, working picture puzzles, crossword puzzles and sudoku. She also enjoyed doing needlework. Above all, Mary Ann devoted her life to her husband, her daughters, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren who she loved with all her heart. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband for the past 58 years, George; her three daughters: Deborah (Joshua) Aho of Wolf Lake, MN, Rebecca (Terrance) Seaberg of Detroit Lakes, MN and Patricia (Harvey) Aho of Wolf Lake; 19 grandchildren: Jason (Amy) Aho of Wolf Lake, Marla (Neal) Kandoll of Toutle, WA, Jared (Jolene) Aho of rural Frazee, MN, Rodney (Hannah) Aho of Wolf Lake, Neil (Amanda) Aho of Wolf Lake, Ramona (Brock) Anderson of Menahga, MN, Nathaniel (Carrie) Aho, Marlin (Ashlyn) Aho, and Luke Aho all of Wolf Lake, Daniel (Stephanie) Seaberg of Bemidji, MN, William (Rebecca) Seaberg, Kaylee (Andy) Mohn, Rachael (Craig) Koep and Josiah Seaberg all of Detroit Lakes, Heather (Shawn) Muhonen of New Ipswich, NH, Kimberly Aho and Tyrone Aho of Wolf Lake, Ryan (Chelsea) Aho of Alexandria, MN, and Layla Aho of Wolf Lake; 35 great grandchildren; two sisters: Barbara (Richard) Dillenburg of Shawano, WI and Donna Krueger of Clintonville, WI; three brothers: Charles (Carol) Schwan, Fred (Sue) Schwan and James (Elaine) Schwan all of Marion, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her brother-in-law, James Krueger and a grandson Tyrel James in 1981. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church near Wolf Lake, MN with the Reverend Dennis Hannu and Reverend Elmer Yliniemi officiating. The organist will be Ramona Anderson. Mary Ann"s daughters will sing, "In The Calm", her grandchildren will sing, "Blessed Assurance" and her great grandchildren will sing, "Jacob"s Ladder". The casket bearers will be her grandsons. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters.
